Hey Joe! I'm having a heck of a time finding my comments in the "notification section" in upper right. It will only let me scroll down 1 month. So I can't find our conversations, and I can't remember which videos we were chatting on. I haven't been able to play with the motor because I went from having a knee surgery, to just having an elbow surgery. Plus, if -15C out, and although my motor is sitting in garage on a stand, I don't have access to putting ear muffs/water on in event I'm able to get it started. My question: would you have the specific part # for a starter (electric?) for this specific 25HP 89, 2 stroke motor? I know you were trying to help me ascertain if it was officially damaged when I told you I had a small fire in the motor (that one day after seeing sparks). Speaking with some friends, they're all convinced I need a new starter. I feel like you gave me a P/N in another comment but I can't find it. I want to start searching online to see if I can find a used one (or depending on price new)...I'm guessing minimum 100 bucks but we'll see. I'm hurting financially and whatever happens this spring, I'll need to either get this motor working to reinstall on my boat (so I can finally fish again), or sell it...and I'd rather spend money to get it running and sell for better price. Thanks in advance!

Hey Mike, nice to ear from you, I hope you're doing better. yup winter are not fun when your a boat owner. This is a copy paste of our last conversation. Hey Mike, No apologizes needed, I hope your surgery went well and that you are doing well. If your starter is defective, It's very easy to change. Only 2 bolts to remove and 2 wires to disconnect. Just make sure to disconnect your battery before unscrewing cable on starter. I actually have a video where I remove the bolt and move the starter aside. The only thing is to unscrew the cable. see kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoaynKlrl6eagcU at 2:17 to 2:29 sec. I had unscrewed the starter bolts already just to make the video faster For the price of a starter it all dependent if you get it used or new. Shouldn't cost you more then 120$ us. But your starter might just be jammed, since it was not used for a long time. Anyway try starting it without the starter and see what happens. To bypass the starter use your pull rope to start the engine. Good luck and let me know :)

@joetheboatguy5394 hey Joe. I actually have been using that site for this motor, and the 50hp I'm having those other issues with. The thing is, using my serial #, gives me a few options on manuals which i then open the tabs to find starter. In other words, I have 2 possible starter assemblies which are slightly different part #'s. The link you posted is one of them though. Thanks for all this help!

Hi TheJimmyrazor, thanks for watching and nice comment. Yes it is possible to add a VSR for when your switch is set on Both positions. Now it depends on what you would like to do, To start is it a Dual or single VSR you would like to install? If its a single VSR what battery are you looking to protect more, I'm guessing your startup battery..... let me know :)

Where do I connect the Amp turn on? Or is it connected to the radio?
@joetheboatguy53947 күн бұрын
Hi kyleesimmons, thanks for watching. What do you see is the connector behind radio so all wires are coming out of the radio. For the turn on amp wire some amps have the to turn on function. That wire send the signal to the amplifier to turn it on or off. Hope this helps. 👍

@@joetheboatguy5394 1:20, 1 side of the fuse box is not + and 1 -. 2:06 you just connected positive wire on 1 side of the fuse, and the negative on the other side od the fuse (cables no 7 and 8), 2:18 same thing (9, 10 & 11 wire), 4:07 and 5:00 again, negative through the fuse to positive.

OK, I see where you think the short circuit are…. Fuse box has one side negative and the other side positive the middle of the fuse box is where positive power passes that ends up on the positive side after passing through the fuse. So the negative side of the fuse box is like a bus bar

In words, it’s a little hard to explain. I’m gonna do a little drawing. Give me a couple of days. I’ll get back to you soon, but believe me there’s no short. 😉 I will try again with words but like I said it the drawing will be much easier to understanding. The negative side screw of the fuse box doesn't touch the fuse at all. So all the negative are connected to the Negative wire like a bus bar. So this will be all the return of the unit you've connected. The positive wire of the fuse box from battery the big screw on top, is the one that connects to all fuses in the middle (like a highway) of the fuse box to then distribute to all little positive screws. So you can look at it like fuses are the exit to highway. So power come from big screw on top goes to all fuses by middle of fuse box (highway) and exit thought all fuse to positive little screw. The two inline little side screws are not connected to each side of the fuse. That would be a short like you say but the fuse box is not made that way. Hmmmm let me know if it more clear. But I will work on something to make it clear :)

Do not ever - EVER - switch from starter battery to house battery with the engine running as mentioned in this video!!!!!!!!! You will instantly fry the ECM (engine control module) and cost you a thousand or more dollars - and your engine will quite possibly never run right again. I know it's a smart charger, and would love the faster charge doing both at once, but I don't want my system goofed up .... or would I just use a relay with my key to cut the VSR ?

lol Granted I am wiring things up today, It was a used sxs, so I wanted to re wire everything ,( it was a royal mess) But I think I will just put the VSR ground on a switch until I get a Reply. Love your videos by the way . ... My end goal is when we go on a trip camping I can charge my Jackery box with our solar pannels and use that to charge the sxs if needed. And also installing external jumper posts to the main battery for just in case to use my noco jumper pack. ..the aux battery should the the only one taking a beating for lights or radio, it will be our only source of music in the evening so what would you suggest to cut off the Aux battery so it don't completely die, it just shuts off the lights and radio ? two VSR ?
@joetheboatguy539428 күн бұрын
Hi diydancochran. thanks for watching and comments. You can use your noco 5x2 and hook up each lane of the Noco on each battery. Any two chargers with the same output voltage can be used in parallel, and both will provide load current as needed. The rule on redundancy is that each charger must be rated to supply the entire standing load, plus about 10% more to charge the battery when needed. So you can use your Noco 5x2 and you will get a faster charge :) hope this helps. Let me know how your project goes :)

Hi tylerdifranco, Thanks for watching. It all depends on your setup and equipment connected to your batteries. But the best way is having both negative batteries wires going to bus bar. But both ways will work if you have the right gauge wire everywhere.

Why do the L/R Turn and Stop Lights use the same wire? How do they work?
@joetheboatguy5394Ай бұрын
Hi huanqingwu, thank you for watching, When you press on your breaks, both the green and yellow wire will send a constant 12 V at the lights, that will mean that your brakes lights will be on. When your right flasher on your vehicle is on, your green wire will receive a on and off 12 V so it will make your light flash Same goes for the left side with the yellow wire. Now, if you have your brakes on and your right flasher on at the same time. Your green wire will receive on and off 12 V, and your yellow will have a constant 12 V. So the right side will flash and the other side will be constant On. Let me know if this helps 👍

Hi VijayGocool, you can add 1-2 switch if you really want protection. But your solar panel should have a diode that will let voltage travel just one way. So your panels would only really work once your outboard is off. Hope this helps.

Hello Great video, but I have a question. I am an RV owner and would like to connect the radio via TWO WAY switch so that the radio is normally working via the ignition, but when I am parked I turn the switch to my leisure battery which is powered form a leisure battery.I understand that I can do this so that I connect position 1 of the switch to the ignition, position 3 to the leisure battery, and the middle one to my radio. But, what do I do with the yellow wire? Is it still connected to a car battery or a leisure battery?I hope this makes sense. Thank You
@joetheboatguy53942 ай бұрын
Hi zv5231, thanks for watching and nice comment. Ok if I understand, you want to install your radio in your RV but be able to use the power from the vehicle battery unless your parked and unhooked from vehicle. If that is correct, then you want to connect your yellow wire to the leisure battery that is always in your RV. When ever your yellow wire is disconnected you will lose your setting in radio (like clock or programmed stations) that is why I say to have it connected with the RV battery 👍 Hope this helps

@@joetheboatguy5394 Thank you, the best thing to explain is to send you this link, it explains what I am trying to do. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGOYZoicjMxoo6c Is the red wire only a signal to turn on the radio and most of the power is coming from the yellow wire or is the majority coming through the red wire? What I am trying to ask is if I leave yellow connected to the car battery and red is feeding from the leisure battery via a two-way switch is it going to drain the car battery or is the majority of power coming from red and yellow just to keep losing memory in the radio ect.
@joetheboatguy53942 ай бұрын
hello, Red wire will turn radio on and use more of the power. The yellow wire is mostly to keep your setting in radio, but without the yellow wire your radio will not start. Ok with your new explanation and video. I would connect the yellow on vehicle battery since in reality your radio will never be disconnected from vehicle battery. Click on Margins (to the left of Orientation) and choose margins that are 0.5 inches top, bottom, and both sides. Click on the pasted diagram and dots will appear at the top, bottom, right and left sides, and corners. You may now click and hold the bottom right corner of the diagram and drag it down and to the right to fill the page. Click the Ctrl and P buttons simultaneously to enable you to print a copy of the wiring diagram so you can refer to it whenever necessary. Also use Ctrl S to save it to your computer and give it a filename you will recognize for future use.
