I recognise it's the British Army - but "Royal" and "Irish" don't quite go together. Oh as an aside - the troops of the Irish Republic serve abroad on UN peacekeeping missions, the longest being in Lebanon. The people of the Irish REPUBLIC also welcome them home in the same way. Especially the casualties - like this one, a year ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2eTdKNsgtWKepI

It has been proven time and time and time again that the UDR collected information to be passed on to Loyalist terrorists to kill members of the nationalist community, also in many many cases UDR members were in both the UDR UVF or UFF at the same time. I wonder why were they disbanded . Just like the vermin RUC were also disbanded . Go on and take your heads out of the sand and ask your self why that would be.

What an atmospheric film of the 12 July 1955 in Tandragee. Northern Ireland was one of the most peaceful places on earth in those days with a tremendous sense of community and strong family bonds. Anthony Eden was Prime Minister of the UK, Dwight D Eisenhower President of the United States and General de Gaulle President of France. There were many Great War veterans still alive ( most in their early 60's ) while the Second World War ex-servicemen were largely in their mid-thirties.

The orangemen of Tandragee form the ring around an open bible, it symbolises the fact that they are united and equal in the eyes of God and in faith.

Just shows how useless and cowardly the average IRA unit was when faced with a victim who was armed and could fight back , The numpty he killed must have got a right shock when he realised his intended victim was armed …

A true Ulsterman gave his all for king and country
I think that islamic integralism will force UK to adopt a "part time defence regiment" even in other regions of the Country. UDR was very effective in limiting the rampaging terrorism, far more than regular troops , who cannot know that land and that people as UDR - and previously the B Specials- did

Grow up you fool. I’m mixed race to a Muslim father and Christian mother, both me and my brother served in the province on many occasions,we gave a combined 41 years of proud service to the British army being born and raised in England. Even serving alongside the UDR and infact making some great friends who I’m still in contact with 30 years later. I have one question for you sir,did you ever serve?

I know that place is famous because it is. One of the most haunted places in Ireland. Because it is haunted by the Ghost of a Bishop. And I'll be going to Derry this Summer in July. And I plan to go to that Cathedral to find him. If he is real?!
