Your Right Hand technique is really Special man 😅 Great playing

Hi Jakob amazing performance. with your permission, I want to ask you something, What kind of exercises do you suggest for playing the first 16th triplets? Im trying to make it perfect by simply starting from slow tempos, but it seems i can't improve it... Should I start with faster tempos and continue until I can play properly, even if I can't play properly now?
@jakobandres76847 ай бұрын
Thank you so much :) I depends on what part you "can't improve", I think. The tip to play slowly is meant to help you be able to follow along with all the details of the run, so you can get those right. For example the fingering of the run, or making sure you don't change position in such a way that you make unwanted strings ring out... but mostly you want to play slow for the coordination between left and right hand, I would think. If your problem with playing fast is sloppiness, then you need to keep playing slow. If your problem is that the run is simply too fast for your right hand to keep up, then you need to practice speed with your right hand. And at a certain point - after you get the right technique down - you have to try to push the speed, instead of just playing slow. Hope that points you in the right direction :)

sounds fucking amazing, whichs pickups has the guitar?

They are Petrucci sig pickups, I think. The Crunch Lab and Liquifire pickups from Dimarzio

Thanks dude! Sorry, I only remember that I used the Axe-FX. But probably some kind of Mesa Mark 2C+ thing. That was my go to amp on it..

I think this cover captures Jake's sound the closest on KZbin. Not perfect in a robotic way, but perfect for the song.

One of my all-time favourite guitar solos in Dream Theater's discography, up there with the end solo in Octavarium, among others. Excellent work, mate! Those bends are really tasty, the fast runs very precise, and the switching between tones extremely smooth. Hats off!

I’ve watched dozens of attempts at this…and even though there is a tutorial from Jake himself showing where everyone gets it wrong…there still isn’t a cover of the solo that’s correct.
@jakobandres7684 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like an interesting tutorial - could you send me a link?
@@GNXXRAY Yeah that's a cool video. But he doesn't show anything about the solo there. He shows a couple of riffs and the outro melody, so I'm not sure what it has to do with the solo 😅

I believe this is indeed one of 😉 the best interpretations of this solo around. Definitely one of the greatest solos ever also. I did this song long ago in a website called Bandhub with some great musicians. It took me about 20 takes to get this solo right 😅 and the fast part isn't my strong suit, but I think I nailed everything else (tone, expression, vibrato, etc.) Kindly take a look 🙏 kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2OzpoKqd8Sqidk Bandhub doesn't exist anymore (I miss it)

amazing cover bro,i am a subscriber now, i noticed that the volume knob is to close to the tune knob how come i never saw that in any jems
@jakobandres76842 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I had the knob moved further down to avoid ever accidentally turning it again.. Especially fast picking on the highest string had that unfortunate effect much too often 😂
