I plan to travel to Vietnam in Mar 25 with my wife and 9 year old daughter. What hotels would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Will be visiting HMC next month. I will be staying at the Park Hyatt the last few days of my trip. What other district do you recommend that is walkable for good food and shopping?
@traveleatvietnam4 күн бұрын
Hi - walkable from Park Hyatt you can try Tan Dinh district which is where the pink church is - there are a lot of good food around there. Depending on what you’re shopping for - downtown area and Ben Thanh is probably the most convenient for souvenir shopping. Hope this helps!

i'm visiting in Nov, should i have any reservations about eating street food? I'm coming from NYC
@traveleatvietnam8 күн бұрын
Vietnam is known for its street food so it’s something you don’t want to miss out on! Hot food like noodle soups are pretty safe. It’s the veggies and herbs you need to be careful - depending on whether you’re eating out on the streetside or inside an eatery. Places where there’s lots of customers means there’s a quick turn around on food so it’s not sitting there stale and growing bacteria. Best advice is to use common sense when selecting where and what to eat!

We stayed at Liberty Central Riverside in June 2024 and your review of this hotel is spot-on. Much appreciation for your detailed reviews of other hotels. Btw, your narration is professional and pleasing to the ears...if lacing with few humorous tidbits, your review would be comparable to Anthony Bourdain's.

Hope this video helps you with your decision about La Vela. My previous video on best locations is a pretty good guide if you're looking for walking distance which unfortunately La Vela doesn't fall into! You can always buy a pass to their pool or have a meal or drinks there if you want to experience the view without having to stay here!
@LTinSoCal21 күн бұрын
@@traveleatvietnam It does really help me to cross off La Vela on my list and consider one of the other hotels. Suffice it to say I won’t be schlepping all the way from D1 and shelling out $$ to just hang out at their pool. On related note, what do you think of Lotte hotel? When I stayed at Le Meridien last year, I kept walking past it every day and wonder if it’s worth a stay next time.
@traveleatvietnam21 күн бұрын
@@LTinSoCal Lotte Hotel is one of the older hotels in the city. I haven't been there in awhile so don't know if they've done any renovations. It's more set back from the street so for river views - it would be a little more distant. I'm not a big fan of hotels on Ton Duc Thang St since I find getting around by taxi or bike a nuisance with the constant traffic. I would suggest Thi Sach area and any hotels managed by Silverland.
@LTinSoCal21 күн бұрын
@@traveleatvietnam Good point Thúy. I actually have stayed at one of the hotels on Thi Sách street about 10 years ago. I think it’s changed ownership and now called Paragon Saigon. Not any view to speak of but the area is very quiet and tranquil despite being so close to the ‘infamous’ Japantown Saigon. Looks like there are more 4-star(?) hotels in that area now. I’ll check out their reviews online. But so far, your insights from a Vietnamese American perspective is what I resonate with and truly appreciate.

hi, I'm going to Hanoi on December 24 through 29. I love the MK hotel but im looking for a cheaper deal for solo travelers. What do you recommend Hi, I'll be in Hanoi from December 24th to 29th. I really enjoy the MK hotel but I'm searching for a more affordable option for solo travelers. What do you recommend?
@traveleatvietnam26 күн бұрын
Hi - thanks for watching. The time you'll be in Hanoi is peak travel season during the holiday period so prices tend to be higher and rooms more limited. I haven't stayed at this hotel, but based on what I see on Agoda and their location, it looks like a good potential budget hotel for about 800k vnd per night (about $35USD). Thanks for watching. This is near BTS Phrom Pong. There is also one near BTS National stadium. Since Ibis don’t have a restaurant - they share with Mercure so you can purchase that pass when you arrive.

Hi - they have laundry services where they charge per piece. Or you can use outside laundry services, might be a good option if you have a lot of clothes. They charge by weight.

She’s speaking Vietnamese throughout the video so you will need to turn on CC and translate to English. Very detailed. Hope this helps. I’m still concerned that it seems to be “not walking distance” from main attractions in District 1 such as Nguyen Hue Walking Street, etc… We would have to take Grab.
@Ruetendom23 күн бұрын
@@LTinSoCal oh my that’s exactly what I am concerned about too. Every time I think about booking it I have to stop in m tracks because it just seems so far 🥲🥲 let me watch this video and decide. Thank you so much.
@traveleatvietnam23 күн бұрын
@Ruetendom @LTinSoCal If walking-distance is a concern then it's probably not your choice. The closest attraction in walking distance would be Tan Dinh Market and the Pink church. Otherwise, if you don't mind taking a Grab taxi or bike, that's ok too though there's rush hour traffic in the morning and evening. The biggest benefit is you save 15min going to the airport. Hope this helps!
