That vaulting incident in Atlanta was really awful. The horse set at the wrong setting causing the gymnasts to miss their vault without knowing why can really mess with a person's head in a high stress situation like that. She wasn't the only gymnast to be thrown by it at the competition. Her bars routines were so fluid and beautiful.

One of the most tragic stories in gymnastics history. She was capable of so much...had the acro skills to challenge Americans and her form was the best the world has ever seen. Sad her body, her mind were just not ever on the same page. Glad we have London to look back on. All her best routines are there. She came SO close to being AA champ. Put her qual or team vault in place of her AA vault and she wins. No doubt.

This young lady highlights what is truly wrong about elite gymnastics. Girls are pushed ridiculously long and hard while being verbally- and often physically- abused. A lot of people have much to answer for.

Story sounds a lot like Rosa Galieva- earn a just and rightful place in finals only to be taken out in favor of another. The Romanian coaches should have been punished for that, simply no excuse.

I always wondered why she wasn’t in Rio, that explains it. Back issues will slow anyone down. I’m sure it’s something many gymnasts experience, particularly later in life.

The story of this girl angers me so much. One, because the US gymnastics delegation betrayed and abused her (yes, they are just as guilty for having ignored it). Two, because the other athletes- her supposed friends- didn’t band around and support her. I know that’s a controversial statement but seriously! She was the first to be brave enough to speak up, but instead of banding together and forcing the issue to be dealt with, the others waited until AFTER they had their round at the Olympics to speak up. It’s just something that’s always bothered me. She wasn’t chosen simply because she spoke up about Nasser- period.
