regards jamie being a target in smaller matches............. my personal claim to fame was beating kevin ashurst twice in my section on a canal open. ...... just totally down to me being a local angler at the time, not being better

i know this video is a couple of years old.... from my point of view, in the 90's i won my section in a division 2 national on the river witham, 12 sections, 80 men per section. nowadays i dont think these matches run, or if they do i dont hear of them. commercial fishing has destroyed a lot of team fishing, but provided a much better fishing environment. that's not a moan, thats just how i see it. natural progression . there are not many safe places to fish where i live if you dont go on commercials. all the canals have idiots wanting to throw you in, so commercials are safe, well managed, and stuffed full of fish x

Just been re watching the Podcasts, this was a particularly good one especially part 2 with Rob account of being sponsored and sponsored anglers. Its a shame the guys don’t do an occasional one, off,i know they have other commitments but a Christmas special type thing. Who would i like to see - Nathan Watson would be interesting, more mainstream Will Raison, Tom Pickering who has been through a change recently, Joe Carass and Steve Ringer - because of Steve I have numerous Mick Wilkinson floats. See what the future brings.

I once read a line by Izaac Walton that said "If all you get from fishing is fish you're not fishing" which if you think about it is true. Listening to Lee in this video you understand more about the intricasies involved for today's top anglers. And I don't think you're lucky Lee, everybody has that element of luck in their chosen career I think you're simply a brilliant angler with an ability that's hard to find these days, to be able to communicate with others. Great Guy.

Think Barry Herne would make a great England Fishing Team sponsor, Barry's Matchroom company have been involved in fishing for many years and it would not be too massive amount of money to lay out!!

Stumble upon this by accident, was a great watch. Well done guys. On the note of sponsered anglers promoting their sponsers gear, I never take their advise; just because of the bias towards that product.... Recently a top angler has moved between a few companies and what a surprise they say something like 'our product is the best', but to have said that a few times after moving sponsors makes me suspicious regards the level of truth in their statement.

There are so many companies producing quality mid range tackle these days and it’s more than usable and sometimes equal to the higher end stuff but it’s not just the price it’s parents not committing enough time to the children and taking them as they would rather leave them locked away in there bedroom play computer games all day

Match fishing should be a no no! I am a sea angler and pleasure fishing sea wise is defiantly a yes! The problem is, like cycling, everyone has bought a bike, will it be the same for angling where everyone orders a cheap spinner online, and who can blame them. In the north east where I'm from there are vast sandy beaches, but rock marks are dangerous to those that don't know them and there may be a problem there, but, people that fish the rock ends are normally anglers that have fished them for years and know them like the back of their hand. In respect of travel...letting people go to allotments is wrong too and a massive double standard. So many people I see that have allotments with no livestock are going in a van shall we say 5 times a a day. On the whole I see no reason why sea angling on a pleasure scale should not be allowed.

I have treated the current situation like it used to be close season, will start to get twitchy once June arrives (mind you here in Yorkshire, back in the day close season ended June 1st). Have the Government been asked to allow fishing tackle shops to reopen as well, these are fragile businesses already, without the added lock down situation.

Do you think guys when pleasure fishing resumes keepnets should be permitted again?
@TheMatchCast
@TheMatchCast 4 жыл бұрын
I think if keepnets are allowed it's asking for people to push it and start doing their own matches, weighing their fish etc. The initial plan put out by AT will be a test of how well anglers can behave especially during phase 1. Abiding by social distancing, not running matches that in theory could pose a higher risk through gatherings at the draw, weigh in and presentation. That phase has been proposed to be inplemented as soon as 7th May... in theory that may be in place for just three weeks before the next phase is brought in. That should be good news for people..

This is the chance for the EA to say to the government, 'hey, we shall give the go ahead to open club controlled rivers early, we will do this to allow the chance for anglers to spread a bit more thinly.' They will look good to both anglers (and clubs), and the gov't.
