As a match secretary we're running 27 matches this year on multiple venues. Weigh limits are fine, knock backs ok, but disqualified nets is a total no no. I wont book a match on any venue where an angler has had a third or maybe half his weight chucked out because he's gone a fish over in one net.

It's going to head to short matches and maybe fishing in two Half's with a two hour break to weigh in then start again. Also agree that it should be number of fish in a net not about weight, I had 20 fish in 3 nets each net were all just under 50lb, another lad had 19 fish for 74lb lost 14lb at the weigh in.

This is why I dont fish open matches, I am put of by the net max weights and the amount of fish I would have to catch. It is different to want to go and catch a lot of small fish or have a few big'uns, but the big match weights have just put me off

Why not limit the amount of tackle and bait people can use it’s completely crazy now anglers with 12 top kits 4 rods 6 keep nets buckets cordless drills piles of bait sometimes with a dozen pints of maggots and casters is it really enjoyable

A lot of open matches now anglers are happy winning ther section even by default and thats down to a massive weight being needed..take blundells as a example ..its a rover so ic u draw a early ball you can get on any peg..trio wins most matches with a big weight but at least40% will not go on it because of this reason ..massive weight needed..and opt for a section win on another water.its no longer a level playing field for lets call them the older angler 50plus and the chance of winning ot mattering anymore.

All this talk about the weight of fish in a net and whinging about knock backs, what about the guy who's weighing-in? I weighed in 2100lb on Saturday between 16 anglers in just one of our matches. One angler lifts 200-300lb out of the water but just stop and think the guy weighing in lifting all those weights every match. 50lb is plenty thank you very much!
