Great Job! I'll have to try this with my 76423 set. Looks like it could be adapted relatively easily to work with the Power Functions system I have. I wish there was a way to motorize the set while keeping all six tender wheels like on the real locomotive, but this is definitely the next best thing.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing that looks different, is the number of wheels on the tender. It's barely noticable though, since it's all black, and this train's gonna be wizzing down the track in a blur

I think it will eventually. Basically, the voice software I originally used is having problems with Joe's voice, so I use another software for Joe now. But I can already hear some improvements with Joe's voice. Eventually, we should be back to normal very soon, as the technology continues to improve.

Cha man, I totally see right through the whole "price per part count" scam. Some people (the ones who aren't "with it") still think that high part count sets with a good PPP ratio are a measure of value. But when you realized that alot of these sets now use like 2x -4x as many pieces as older version, it's obvious we're getting shafted here

$60 in 2010 is equivalent to $86 today. Edit: for a better comparison, a $70 set today would go for about $48 in 2010, so Joseph is pretty right in calling it a $40 set.

Nowadays, I actually really like bigger pieces. Some people might say that makes it more juniorized, but I'll take over niblet tiles any day. At least you can actually use the larger pieces to build stuff with.

It's really sad how this is LEGO's strategy. Their new strategy is to make a bunch of premium toys for six-figure IT men. Everyone else is left out. Also, at this point, I think the kids aren't super-into LEGO these days - it's becoming more of an adult/nostalgia thing.

Had the 2005 anakin starfighter when it came out, but my parents wouldn't shell out for the arc 170. The sets that came right after episode 3 was released were the best.
