This is the only lego set outside of Bionicles I want to buy. Is there more sets of buildings and castles like this?
@AlphaChadBricks14 күн бұрын
Yes, this type of set is actually part of the Modular Buildings theme, which has nearly 20 sets in total! They're all these highly detailed buildings that are built on 32 x 32 baseplates, and they typically have 3 floors. You can detach each floor as a separate module, hence the name Modular Building. This theme has always been among the most popular among adult men.

This is possibly the most unique modular to date, and I absolutely LOVE it for that. I'm sure some out there may be disappointed, but I hope Lego keeps going for more unique architecture in the future.
@AlphaChadBricks14 күн бұрын
This one is especially unique, I really like the wattle and daub style wall up top. Those details are so fine, and the contrast of the black and white really pops! Same with the roof, it looks really well done. There's no awkward gaps up there either.

This is the first time I'm tempted to buy a modular. I still don't really have space for this set, and it's still not really in my budget, but it's one of the better sets I've seen that offers a good value. This would be a great buy, if you can get it discounted or if there's a valuable GWP to sell.

I don't own any of those Ideas modular black box sets. I've ogled a few of em, but the exteriors are never cool enough yo want yo actually have on a shelf or anything, and not fun yo play with or in. I really wanted to love the Museum, but it just wasn't at all as Chad as it promised. The Corner Hotel has the most interesting exterior, but I just don't love the buildings. This one nails both cool interior and fun exteriors. Still more money than I want to spend, butits actually fairly priced and that GWP compliments it completely. Would I rather a Gucc bug assi yellow box Pirate themed Islanders set? Hell yes. But do I think this is the coolest looking "adult" city set? Yeah. I'm actually tempted to get this one. Still, wish the Museum was cooler, thats an actual cool place I want to put my little people to live in. The outside just didnt pop enough and the exhibits sucked. Should have made it all dinosaur themed and had more fossils. But thats what could have been. I'm glad this one is fairly priced too. Too damn many of these things are priced insane. Me and my partner went to the Mall to look at sets built on display last weekend because he's a big plant guy and he wanted to see and buy the Botanical Garden for himself. He looked at it built and couldn't believe how much it was for what you got. As much as he liked it, he couldn't justify it at $330, and I am so glad he didn't support that shit. They literally had the Lion Knight Castle on sale on the shelf next to the Botanical Garden for a cheaper price, making the garden look like the most simp purchase a man could make. And yes, I did buy that last Lion Knight Castle haha. Most expensive Lego purchase I've ever made, but the big ass set is actually justifiable at the 25% off price and the double points pushed me. And I'll be fun to play with after its built too. It'll make a good compliment to my Creator Torture Tower. Sadly with that big ass purchase, i dont think ill be jumping on another big set like this Tudor, especially knowing if i bought it much later that im missing out on the sweet Newsstand GWP.
@AlphaChadBricks12 күн бұрын
See that's the thing with these $300 sets, you basically just build them once and put them on a shelf. No alt-builds. And taking them apart can literally take several hours. A few years ago I bought a $300 Technic set. It took nearly 20 hours to build, and by the time I was at bag 3 I knew that it wasn't really for me. Played with it for like 10 mins, and then took it apart a few days later. Taking it apart took several hours, and my fingers had blisters, and I was bleeding. Never again. My final big set I got was the LEGO NES. It was literally a dust collector. I literally never picked it up, popped the cartridge into the dope mechanism - never did that shit. Now I'm all about small sets. I pick them up in my hands and fidget with them while watching youtube. Or I completely take them apart, and spend an hour or 2 making an alt-build while watching a show or something. This is the ultimate form of LEGO in my opinion.
@MightyThorngren12 күн бұрын
@AlphaChadBricks well I've found two alt instructions for Lion Knight and I'm looking forward to trying em out. But yeah, totally agreed on the rebuildability and MOCing of smaller sets. Worst part about MOCing is taking apart the completed sets to start over, and it's even worse when it's big. Not looking forward to that part. The best sets are $30-$60 range that are cool builds that can supplement eachother, with parts lending themselves to alt creative builds. Thats why we need more "themed" creator sets and less boots and typewriters.
