A small plane with fixed landing gear would probably have flipped over upon hitting the water. The wheels would be up and the wings on the bottom when it sinks.

What a sad story but a bittersweet end where dad would be lost doing 2 things he loved, flying and diving. But I'm sure a Cesna 2-engine plane, possibly broken apart in landing, would be hard to locate in the water. 😢

The Great Lakes Ghost Ship Hunters might be another resource - when the waters thaw in the spring the water being so calm and algae free is the perfect time to comb the images...

Please say prayers for all the drivers and first responders thatcher searching the Potomac River right now in the cold dark, with winds, water temp is 42 or lower, and a very unforgiving currant for survivors from the plane crash, and helicopter. 😢🙏🙏🙏🙏

When my group located the plane in Lake Huron last year, near Bois Blanc island it was pretty flattened and disintegrated... The lake bottom tends to shift, covering and uncovering things from year to year... KEEP FAITH !! Just because an area was searched one year, doesn't mean that the plane isn't there. It may just be buried at that particular time..... I have been watching "Chaos's" videos and posts since they started, and in my opinion (20 years as a public safety diver) is that they are a team that can be trusted to search an area diligently... Your loved one's plane is also on my group's list when we get up to that area later this year, or next year. Again, keep faith. Technology is only getting better and will hopefully lead to finding the plane soon..... From all of us at Great Lakes Search and Recovery. Wishing you and your loved ones a good week.

@ChaosDivers will do. Because many of us have regular full-time day jobs, our area is sort of limited to around Michigan (we have to use vacation days anytime we make plans longer than a weekend). As I said in my earlier post, my group feels that you are one of the few teams that we would feel comfortable working alongside, and would trust to do a job.. If you are ever passing through, I will always have my home open to everyone, and a safe place to store boats, rigs, etc (My home is near Lansing, Michigan).... Wishing you success on your next endeavor, and many more to come..

Like i posted in the live stream...For future searches you shouldnt be looking for a plane you should be looking for parts ....someday im gonna upload diving on the parts from the plane we found . And you could see that its a needle in a haystack... Look for big round or awuare engines...a prop...or what looks like a ladder in the sand ..that will be a portion of wing structure...the wings wont have any material on them... especially a tiny pane like this

Where is the Michigan Triangle? There is a section of our Great Lakes that produces the same level of mystery, our own Lake Michigan Triangle. The Triangle stretches from Ludington to Benton Harbour, Michigan, to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Michigan Triangle has a history of ships, planes, and people disappearing within its borders.

Frequently, the Blue Angels do shows at the yearly Cherry Festival. Perhaps they may have seen remnants?
