Very helpful. I’ve used BB on two bikes and was impressed with their quality. On my NX500, I chose the Hondas because I’m primarily interested in wind protection, and they lack the clunky inner handlebar clamps.

Hello and thanks for the detailed video. It is very helpful even for other operations on the bike. I was wondering why you didn't connect the cable directly to the option plug, like you did with the phone charger and GPS. There are splitters for that plug who can offer you two connections and you could have avoided the extra relay and cables to the battery.
@twofeetonthepegs
@twofeetonthepegs 24 күн бұрын
Hello, all the factory installed accessory plugs (there are three in the 2022 model) are connected to one circuit/ fuse (OP) which is 10A. So far I have on this fuse my USB port, the GPS and phonecharger -they draw 7-8 amps if are loaded at maximum at the same time. The heated grips at maximum capacity will draw 3.5-4 amps, so I could overload the fuse if I was connecting the heated grip to the same circuit. Why I did not changed the fuse, you may ask...well because the wire diamteres to the fuse are thin, designed for about 10 amps too...and I do not wish to replace all those cables. Yes I know the probabilty of using all those devices at maximum capacity at the same it is low, but I don't want to tempt fate...on a long cruise it is the last thing you want to have a burned circuit...So that is the reason of a separate power supply from the battery with the relay. I hope that makes sense.

@@twofeetonthepegs , thanks for the answer, makes a lot of sense. I am no electrician and I try to learn as much as I can from people who know what they're doing. I understand that if you want to install fog lights you have to do another trick like this one to protect the 10A circuit. I also have a 2022 model and so far I installed a double USB charger (connected under the left fairing) and a set of 30W dual beam lights (connected to a splitter under the seat), so I should be under 10A limit. To the other connector of the splitter I was thinking to connect a 12V socket to it, in case I need to use a tyre inflator, for example. Greetings from Timisoara!
@twofeetonthepegs
@twofeetonthepegs 23 күн бұрын
@@ticone83 Unless you have left over about 3-4 amps from the 10A, yes it is recommended to have a separate circuit. Now if you note, the connector I was mentioning for the fog lights are just next to the connections I made for the heated grips, in other thand the size of the wires I used for the hand grips can handle 10A too. As a result , if I will install at some point the fog lights I will connect to the existing harness of the heated grips . So if one will think two steps ahead that will save time in the future 😉. I love Timisoara (In urma cu mult timp am avut multa bere si mititei la Banateana 👌).Salut!

Regarding the connector for the accessory socket I could not find any reliable info, sorry.

Great work, thanks for sharing. Using info from your video and others I managed to plug the connector for the USB without removing the side fairing. I just used a screwdriver to unhook the connector and some pliers to pull it out. Not an easy job because you have to fit both your hands between the fork arm and the fairing, but can be done. Afterwards I fitted the wires in the connector in the right position and just pushed it in with one hand. Ride safely!

Hello, as I mentioned in one of my videos (maybe part 2?), 16kg is the seller's statement, in the AliExpress message to my question. AliExpress stuff usually doesn't have technical specifications, this is also true. I have strong doubts whether it can withstand a dynamic load of 16 kg permanently. I wouldn't count on more than 8-10kg. The STEEL bracket (not aluminum!) can withstand such a load, as my tests have confirmed.

Onestly...I do not know. It was/is painted on black, so I cannot determine visually. According to the vendor it is steel :-) . 1020 Steel or 4140 , or other? I just hope it's 4140 or 4340 as it has higher fatigue strength compared to the 1020. They do not specify the grade and this a usual problem with Chinese products. Or if they do, it is not reliable... I guess even in your case the "specification" says sainless steel :-). But what grade? 303, 304, 316, 310 or 321 ?

As far as the grade 303, 304, 316, 310 or 321 he did not say, i think there grades would be close to each other as far as strength is. I only know about the 304 grade and 316 grade as i have some of these grades for making whiskey at home. @@twofeetonthepegs

@@twofeetonthepegs Well you are right about loading capacity. However Shad brackets use the passenger peg mounts so there is more support and stability for the box. @twofeetonthepegs
@twofeetonthepegs Жыл бұрын
It broke on the dirt road at ~20-25 km/h (~15mph)...but according to material science, that was a longer process. The brackets are subjected to cyclic loading (vibrations) and the material fatigue is a longer process. These brackets are made of "simple" aluminum...they should be made of special aluminum alloy (used in aircrafts for instance) or steel, calculation should be made and finally should be tested. The bottom line is that these aluminum brackets are not good, they were not tested by manufacturer/seller. (It should be mentioned, that this seller was fair, and sent me free, new replacement brackets made of steel)
