Rather sad that you didn't take the time to really dive into the programing properly. The different partial structures are one of the things that makes this an eternal instrument. All the different modulation possibilities also makes it a very special instrument. Because of the D-50's depth it's actually faster to edit it without the PG-1000. I was a third party sound designer in the 80's and 90's and can still edit this in my sleep. One of my favorite synths of all time.
@synth4ever3 күн бұрын
Absolutely, it's great synth and super deep. If you have some in-depth programming videos, would love to watch!

Pro tip: get four programmers and chain them to edit each tone separately at the same time. No realtime filters but use an expression pedal to control filter via Aftertouch since aftertouch (and velocity) never works on any used D50.
@wreckage-vs5jv4 күн бұрын
Check velocity and aftertouch in test mode before buying one. Even 25 years ago used D-50s with a proper working keybed were a rarity.

Bought one, with the First design, same as The Wave, guess in the early -00isch. To me its not a VA, more like one of the most musical digital synths ever built. It has personality! It have the ability to paint every track for a full lenght album by it self!

And one of the best things is that the entire width of the board is totally crammed with sliders and knobs, compared to the acces virus kb, or other synths nowadays wich have the controls put together mostly in one space, and have a lot of empty space on the right side of the boards, wich i find kind of cheap, not to mention ugly.
@synth4ever12 күн бұрын
It is definitely feature packed and crammed full of controls! Great for tweaking.

you think this synth is better than Juno 60? trying to decide if I should get this or Juno 60
@synth4ever13 күн бұрын
Different type of synths... Trident is more of a multi-layered approach with no arpeggiator like on Juno... Juno is straight ahead synth and a classic. Cost of the Trident is more than the Juno so that could be a factor to consider too.

I love how you can almost sense the raw electricity coursing through those circuits. I don't know what it is about this synth, and its sound, that puts the thought of raw electron flow at the forefront of my mind. Maybe the look & feel is also something to do with it; it's like a piece of communications or scientific test equipment with a keyboard attached
@synth4ever13 күн бұрын
Yes exactly... it feels like it's from a mad professor lab! Definitely very "electric". Great for experimental timbres.

It's my favorite of all time SYNTH 💯 video. A6 is my all-time favorite synth but i cant trust market that ill get a good one thats in good shape. I know that they no longer make the hardware but make the software. I setlled for the moog soundset and a moog matriarch . At the very least, its 100% analog. I can get this sound from the moog. I watch/ listen to this to calm me down.💯 CANT SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH. PRAISE GOD ALMIGHTY OF CREATION.

Demonstration was so good, it is entertaining to watch again. Which I did. I don't own it. But compared to the preset stuff that's out today like the moog muse. I commented that synthesizers like this CS 50 can out match up with the moog muse, which is predominantly preset..

Never played or even seen a real CS-80, but I did get to play a CS-60 in a shop earlier this year. That was really cool. I was amazed at how playable it was: the keys felt great and all the controls were chunky and ergonomically spaced out on the panel. It was inspiring to interact with and the whole thing felt really well-made. It’s weird how modern things aren’t really made like that anymore, but we’re used to it, so interacting with an old piece of equipment is a bit of a shock to the system.

I think every analog synth should have bipolar filter envelopes. Most people seem not to understand how to use negative filter envelope modulation, but if you know how to dial it in effectively, you can basically add an additional stage to your standard ADSR envelope generator.
