ALESIS ANDROMEDA A6 - Ambient Chillout Jam (Step Sequencer)

Alesis Andromeda A6 synth demo featuring an ambient chillout jam using the on-board step sequencer. The Alesis Andromeda is a very powerful analog synthesizer and the 16-step sequencer allows for intricate pattern building and layering, as it can be triggered per key to create different timings and offsets.
In this ambient chillout music piece I showcase the Alesis Andromeda A6's step sequencer and some interesting timbres via the dual filter setup, LFOs and delay effects. The music uses a repeating motif to showcase these aspects. Hope you enjoy the demo and jam.

I remember the day the Andromeda came out. Was in a little instruments shop here, in Spain. I was inmediately hypnotized by the interface but never hear the synth working. And now, you made it! THANK YOU

I wonder if Behringer would ever develop a clone of the A6. It really is a deep synth. Great sound scape!

That would require reverse engineering the code and custom ASIC chips... I'm not an engineer so not sure how difficult that would be.

I love my Andromeda! I put the black sticker face on, swapped for a black and white display, and made an adapter for the 16 direct outputs. Love it!

It is quite complex and deep, but thankfully most basic controls can be accessed from the control panel knobs/buttons.

Got one when it first came out (I was in the first 100), sold it at quite a profit when Alesis discontinued it. Would love for something like this to be made again...

Nice, did you get a red or blue one? I doubt this will ever get remade, but the Moog One is often considered the modern successor (minus 16-part timbrality).
@marzzz1
@marzzz1 Жыл бұрын
@@synth4ever I got a blue one, inspected by Mike Peake himself. My only regret (similar to why I haven't bought a Moog One) was that I was the one who discovered it didn't respond to polyphonic aftertouch over MIDI, otherwise I would probably still have it, wonky pots and all. Once we learned that it sounded better with OSC levels below 30 in the Mixer, it was sublime. I actually owned a CS-80 at the time, and was able to emulate that midrange fuzziness by adding in Filter 1 Bandpass in the Post Filter Mix.

I've heard abt these but never seen 1 in action. How great is this sound? I love minimal repetitious motifs that expand into something massive then cave in on itself. You can do some much with so little, it just takes that tweaking to coax the different character. 16 voice analog multi timbral, that's far and beyond what most expensive synths can do today. This things is a beast, thx for sharing.
@synth4ever
@synth4ever Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the Andromeda is very capable today, even 20+ years after release. You described my intentions with this piece... expand into a cacophony of sound and then cave in to minimalism. Thanks for watching!

Is it multitimbral? If yes then it would be cool to hear how it give the whole tracks. I've had a wish to buy one used... But had no enough money for that time and also it takes pretty much space which I don't have.

I created the sequencer pattern and patch on the A6. Then played it live as demo'd here. Used a sustain pedal to hold the sequence (since there's no latch button for it). Took me 30min-1hr to craft the patch and sequence I was happy with.
