Good works are for rewards, not salvation, salvation is a gift, rewards are earned, see it like this, someone gave you a ticket to get into Disney land, that's great but when you get in, you got to have tickets to ride the rides, no different in getting into heaven, rewards will be given but they have to be EARNED, there NOT FREE, the more good works you do the greater your rewards will be, good works are not something we want to do, it's something we need to do, for rewards, it's not something that makes you feel good either, if it makes you feel good, you just got your reward, it's something you actually don't want to do, it's not called the joy of love, it's called a LABOR of love, Christians need to be encourage to do acts of love especially when they don't feel like it, that's creating a debt that only God pays back, if the person you show the act of love to has the ability to love you back or pay you back, there is no reward for this so do good works for those that can't pay you back, like the poor and the needy, the fatherless, the true widow or it could even be one of your own family, a husband or a wife, a father or a son

Thank you for this. I just wrote a blog post about how when the 10 Commandments say, "Thou shalt" or "Thou shalt not" this is in the continuous tense in Hebrew and the future tense in Greek. In other words, it carries the sense that there WAS, IS, and SHALL BE a Person whom these commandments describe. They don't say "Thou should not" or "Thou must not" but rather, "Thou hast not, doth not, and shalt not". So the true commandment of the law is to be like this Person, who can only be the Messiah. But no one can be like Him in their own strength; only through the Gospel and receiving His Spirit can we walk in Him and fulfil the righteousness of the Law. Your insight that the set of commandments given to the Israelites was broken but the second set placed within the ark, symbolizing Christ, is preserved, fits with this perfectly. Glory to God!

My mom had a cousin a long time ago (1950's) we used to visit in Southern Illinois in an "mental institution" it was a gigantic place. I think today what an influence that sad place had as I visit nursing homes with the Good News. God is good, all the time.

God does not send people to hell? What about when Jesus says, "And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." And what about all of the parables describing God and judgement day and casting all of the unbelievers into hell (sheep and the goats, wheat and tares, the net)? And people do not willfully choose hell, they willfully choose their sin and rebellion against God, which has the consequence of hell. This is confusing and misleading. God is love, and his other attributes such as holiness, righteous, wrathful, judge, do not contradict His love. His love is also not an over arching attribute over all other ones. It is not unloving to judge righteously, it is good. It is not unloving to be wrathful and punishing sin and rebellion. It is not unloving for God to create hell and cast evil people into it. Come to the understanding that God owes what he has created nothing, and that if he wiped all of His creation away that this would be justified. But he has shown love to the world and reconciled His people out of the world, paid for by Christ suffering on the cross.

I am suffering right now. But, while my affliction brings me pain, it's not about me. It's so that I may know Him in the fellowship of HIS suffering. And the fellowship of His suffering gives me a front row seat to observe His glory. When I sit around the emblems on the table and I feel in my own life a little taste of the kind of pain that He felt; I have the best seat in the house.

WOW, what a wonderful possible insight to the location be placed "right before" the veil to show its proximity to the Holy of Holies and the ark. You shared that it had to be on the outer side of the veil to facilitate the daily ministration but as close as possible. Thank you for this insight.

Thank you for these touching words. We said goodbye to our Mum yesterday after a long battle with dementia and your story and message captured how we were feeling "Lord undertake for me". Thankfully Mum knew Jesus Christ as her Saviour and we were blessed with the Lord's presence in undertaking for us as we spent the final moments with her before the Lord took her from us.
