I loved the series. But now I'm wondering why they didn't just fix the wave motion gun first, then do their little sneak attack in the ocean with a fully functional wave motion gun? The comet empire is just sitting there with their shields down. If the diplomats signed the surrender paperwork and they blow up the comet empire a couple of days later, is that ok?

We were like ten years old, running home from school every day to catch this. After 5 weeks' of episodes to build up the story, when he reads the wire "The Star Force will begin an ALL-OUT attack on the Comet Empire at oh-nine-hundred hours Earth time, clear the battle area of all Earth ships at once", we lost our freakin' minds. We were jumping up and down and screaming. To this day, that line still gives me chills like nothing else.

Knox stays back alone to blow up enemy's energy center. Armagedón's director might have coped this part of the Star Blazer2.

Nasca is probably the luckiest Yamato/stsr Blazers villians as he's neither killed by the enemy or by his own hand ....though he peobably wished he was dead after he reported to zordar

Sandor was one of my favorite characters from this show. Whenever the sh*t was really hitting the fan and the ship was gonna be destroyed it was always Sandor who goes full MacGyver and figures out how to save the day. He always drags the robot IQ9 with him. The two of them are the dynamic duo.

In earlier episodes, it was pointed out Gamalons and Earthlings cannot breathe the same air. Earth type air is toxic to Gamalons and vice versa. One of the reasons Gamalons were planet bombing earth was to terraform the air on Earth to be like that of Gamalon. Every scene between the two, one of the two species was wearing a mask. Here, Wildstar confronts Deslock on his ship and nether of them is wearing a mask. Continuity error

I remember school getting out at 3pm, avoiding my friends just so I could grab my stuff from my locker and get home before 3:30 to watch Star Blazers. My first trip to Japan in 2001 I bought the DVD set that contained Season 1 & 2...still one of the best anime's created.

I loved this series back in 1980. One of the best. When Trelana returns Prince Zordar to the cosmos, I get tingles. Outstanding anime from long ago.

This is probably the one episode that stood out amongst all the others. Watching all those wave motion guns firing at once had my dancing around as a kid...then seeing they had no effect surprised the hell out of me.

Same here. I used a cassette recorder to at least get the audio of this episode. My family didn't get s vcr until mid 1881, after Star Blazers was taken off in New York..

The english version is watered down quite a bit. The fight and carnage is much more in the incut version. I hated Captain Gideon was defeated. As a youngman this was the most dramatic anime I'd ever seen. I couldn't forget it especially this episode.
