What soundtracks were used in this trailer? I have a feeling they were universal property.

I find it interesting that the first 25 seconds of the trailer they decided to use the opening music from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Guess they didn't have to worry about a copyright, exact same composer and exact same director!

It's crazy enough that this video was uploaded in 2006, i.e, 13 years after the original film. And now I am watching this video 18 years later in 2024. Damn!

More than 30 years since this film's release. I watched it in August recently for the first time. I expected it to be an overrated film loved for little reason. Oh, how I was proven wrong.

Can you _imagine_ how difficult it must've been to edit this trailer? They went to painstaking lengths to _not show the dinosaurs,_ and to only show as much of them as was strictly _needed._ Why? Well several factors...The makers of this movie _knew_ that they had something amazing to show the world. What they had created was going to change _everything._ It wasn't just going to effect Dinosaur movies from this point forward; it was going to effect filmmaking itself. Up until this point, movie dinosaurs had been many things; janky, stop-motion puppets, men in tokusatsu suits, crudely designed puppets, and even modern-day reptiles with frills and horns glued to their heads...They range from impressive to pathetic to downright shameful. But the trailer sets the stage; it shows Ellie and Grant reacting to the Brachiosaur _without showing the Brachiosaur itself._ Why? Because that moment in the movie is something special; it was history in the making. The movie brings us in hot with peripheral glimpses of the Raptor in the box attacking and killing Geoffrey; but stuff like that was largely expected for a "monster movie," as many were expecting this to be. But the Brachiosaur scene is where it all hits you at what this movie - and the people who made it - were capable of. It was the first time that movie audiences saw a _real dinosaur_ on screen; something so beautifully rendered with Computer Generated technology, in the most realistic depiction that was possible at the time. And later in that same scene, Grant and Ellie are stunned at Hammond's revelation, _"We have a T-Rex."_ That right there was a Promise to the audience. The movie just showed us what their Brachiosaur could look like, and was now setting the stage to let us know, the T-Rex was going to look _just as good._ Such a moment should never be taken away from anyone while watching this film for the first time. It's a shame that CGI has become so common now that it's somewhat desensitized audiences. The other reason I feel is _competition._ This movie was going to break so much new ground when it hit, that the filmmakers immediately knew that everyone was going to want to copy them from here on out. Heck, from the moment that Roger Coreman learned that Spielberg was making a Dinosaur movie, he immediately greenlit and rushed his own adaptation of _"Carnosaur"_ into production. And even released it _two months ahead_ of Jurassic Park. He even included a line in the movie taking a dig at Jurassic Park. And that...was the last Dinosaur movie _of the old age._ So all in all, it was best to keep the dinosaurs - and the computer graphics that created them - a secret, until the world was ready. And such, there wasn't any movie that could even remotely rival Jurassic's computer graphics until 1995's _Dragonheart._

They never once showed a direct dinosaur, so the magic of the film when you went to see it would not be spoilt. Also to the fact that whenever a dinosaur appeared, it was often jumping out after a big suspenseful scene, which is why if they showed it in the trailer, that suspense would’ve been already ruined. This was back in the days when they didn’t have to overdo it but you was very subtle. Means to actually draw you in. In reality less is more.

It’s interesting how some of the dialogue was changed before it was released in the cinema. For example, the way Malcolm comments about king kong is slightly different, but more significantly Grant’s dialogue in the bunker when Ellie mentions the raptors opening doors is completely different. In the trailer Grant says ‘are we safe?’ but in the theatrical release he asks “are we sure the 3rd one is contained?”. It’s possible the ADR hadn’t been completed by the time the film hit cinemas. There was around 500 lines of dialgoue replaced in post production which is actually quite low for a film like this but would explain the discrepancies.

My mom always told me they hid so many of them you could hear them only and it was left to your own imagination till you saw the movie . 1993 baby here . One of my favorites growing up and now my son loves it to . “Well we’re out of a job, don’t you mean extinct “ One very very very rainy day here in NM we were of course in the backseat the rain got harder and harder to where you couldn’t see anything in front or behind you I knew we were on the road because the dips to drain water would have sent us into a a bigger hole. So I saw headlights and they were going the wrong way so they were coming at us head on …. My dad said “hold on to your butts !” We managed to get to the right side of the road and sat there hazard lights on and all . Of course it’s still storming so hard like I truly thought we were going to die . My dad (grandfather of course I called them mom and dad they raised me because my mom was an addict so the best place was here with them my grandmother I called mom and my special need aunt it would bounce batch to sister or auntie)of course the driver and my mom in the passenger seat and me and my aunt who was ten years older then me and yes she is special needs and she’s my rock she’s amazing 🤍 she loved jurassic park to .Mandy in the back . All of a sudden all that crazy rain? It stopped so suddenly we all jumped. And we all were silent. And dumb ass self takes off my seatbelt and we heard 3-5 loud loud booms (can you tell where this is going yet ? ) according to my mom and dad my eyes were so wide and I went so pale I slowly said (gasp) “the dinosaurs are coming ….” And my dad of course burst out laughing. My aunt I freaked her out which was never the plan I love her too much . My mom is also stifling her laughs and tell my aunt “oh no sweetheart no there are no more dinosaurs left taisha is just scared “ did I get in trouble? Not really. Did I apologize ? Why yes I did . And yet we got to where we were going lmao . It goes to show Jurassic park is full of quotes. Take it as you will the younger ones will tell us it’s stupid. That was my generation man !

This is how they made proper trailers back then. Nowadays there's zero ambiguity or thought. They basically show most of the main parts of the film in the bloody trailers. And they STILL haven't learned their lesson. Same with games too.
