Nick Vitto agreed. They show you just enough to get you interested, like the T-Rex’s foot and the shining in her eye. Plus, of course, the raptors can open doors. But you don’t get a good look.

Gianluca Bucci So the ironic similarity of these franchises escape your smug filled brain? They're set up in literally the same format. The plots for both movies are simple minded and filled with plot holes, perfect for children or dumb adults, I'm actually not sure which one you are. JP 1: Oh wow! Look at that, that's the most impressive thing I've seen in this year!!! JP 2: Oh cool, another one with way more dinosaurs and people fighting them, that's AWESOME!!! JP 3: I mean I guess we should see it...look that one can fly... JP 4: Another one? Let me guess, it'll have dinosaurs and people in jeopardy. To save you time and energy as you prepare to write an insulting and witty reply I'm sure I won't read, I just wanted to let you know you look like an online predator.

Not once did they show a shot of computer generated dinosaurs, nor did they show the large scale animatronics used. This is why this trailer is genius; tease the audience so it won't be ruined for them when they go see it. Of course, nowadays great visuals aren't anything new, but the idea is still the same. Too bad most trailers presently break that rule.

That's why this film did so well. Steven Spielberg wanted everyone to see the movie and be amazed at that first shot of dinosaurs. The trailer just gives the impression of suspense and something of danger is happening. Makes you as the audience want to see this film. Now (2018) we no what the dinosaurs are and it's not a shock or surprise.

This movie was a masterpiece. The trailer didn't give anything away (other than the obvious)and you had to wait and watch the movie to actually see any really good dinosaur shots. The key moments of the movie were done on an epic and emotionally powerful scale (like the first brachiosaurus appearance, for example). And the sound...oh, the sound. From the resonating bass of the dinosaurs' footsteps shaking the whole theater to the T. Rex's AWESOME roar, you really felt like you were THERE.

It’s interesting how some of the dialogue was changed before it was released in the cinema. For example, the way Malcolm comments about king kong is slightly different, but more significantly Grant’s dialogue in the bunker when Ellie mentions the raptors opening doors is completely different. In the trailer Grant says ‘are we safe?’ but in the theatrical release he asks “are we sure the 3rd one is contained?”. It’s possible the ADR hadn’t been completed by the time the film hit cinemas. There was around 500 lines of dialgoue replaced in post production which is actually quite low for a film like this but would explain the discrepancies.

Genius marketing strategy when you think about it, showing almost no dinosaurs in order to keep the effects a surprise. Only other time I have known a movie to be marketed that way was with Avengers Endgame's marketing strategy to show almost nothing in the trailers past the 15 (out of 181) minutes mark. The movie comes out and the dinosaurs blow everyone blow everyone way (and still do 26 years later) and those other 166 minutes of mystery superhero action causes fans to go wild and loose their minds (the big epic finale definitely). PS Ok I can probably think of a few franchises that have done similar things, like most Paranormal Activity trailers almost entirely consisting of fake scenes and a few Alfred Hitchcock trailers in the 1960's using no footage at all just him pitching the movie in vague detail. But Avengers Endgame was the most recent one I got to experience in a sold out movie theatre.

I think it's impressive that Universal released the trailer without showing really any of the dinosaurs, just enough to tease, but not enough to spoil the CG breakthrough that awaited people on the big screen. Nowadays, all the biggest action sequences are spoiled in the trailer.

One can only hope the eventual Jurassic World: Dominion trailer would be along the same lines as this original but who am I kidding it will spoil the whole movie and be filled with shitty CGI (although I think I read they might be using more animatronic dinosaurs so that’d be fantastic)

if this trailer came out today people would complain that the raptors can open doors, that scientifically you can't make dinosaurs from mosquitoes and that the reasons for making Dinosaurs was silly.....its why I hate living in an era where movies come out and there is so much commentary on what they should and shouldn't be...... back when Jurassic Park came out people just saw the movie and had fun..... Jurassic World looks great and at least is doing something fresh.... JP3 wasn't great because they just rehashed the exact same story form the last two films.... the series stopped because people got bored of dinosaurs which is the central plot of Jurassic World!

People do the same thing with games and it's f*cking annoying. People can't seem to grasp this idea that it's ok for forms of entertainment to include elements which are not realistic. Fantasy as a genre will not even survive long if people continue to develop this "everything must be realistic or it's bad!" attitude.
