@BillyFargon19 күн бұрын

@YZFoFittie19 күн бұрын
@BillyFargon i just bought a 72 Nova roller, it's an auto car so I was thinking 4L80 when I put the LS in it. My 69 Chevelle is a T56 Magnum. What made you change after all this work? Would you recommend a different auto? (If you didn't like the 4L80).
@BillyFargon19 күн бұрын
There was no issues with the 4l80e that I had in there.. it was just turning into a drag race car and that’s not the type of driving I wanted to do. I wanted a t56 from the beginning but that required lots of tunnel work. Then they came out with the TKX and would fit with no mods so I switched at that point. I just wanted a fun active street car and shift gears.
@YZFoFittie19 күн бұрын
@BillyFargon oh ok, right on man. I hear you. I couldn't go with the TKO or TKX due to my power level. It took me a year to convince myself to cut my tunnel. I do not want to do that to this Nova and it's only going to make 500 to 600 so if you don't have to modify the tunnel for a 4L80e that's going to be the ticket. To bad a 6L80 won't fit, that would be the shiz.

Billy, you should check lash to see if that Rocker is putting the right amount of pressure on the valve seat. Too much you can damage the lifter/pushrod or deaden the cam. Too little and you have the tick you heard. A tip for others when trying to run the engine with the valve cover off, if you can find an old valve cover laying around cut the top off the cover so it exposes the rockers but keeps the oil in the engine so you don't have to use rags that might get caught by the fan or sucked into a moving part.
@fieldsgarage407028 күн бұрын
I was suspecting more oil coming from the rocker arms. It was hard to tell.
@BillyFargon28 күн бұрын
It was there, all the rockers had a pool of oil in them. It didn’t really splash while running but I also didn’t rev or let it run long.

Doing the big block core conversion. Did you have to shim your heater core for the necks to protrude enough to get hoses on? Seems like I’ll need a 3/4 shim under the core sides to work. Not sure if a stiff foam will be ok to use.

I didnt have any shims. I showed exactly how I had it sitting in there. Only had to modify how it was actually secured in there. It was sitting against some weatherstripping foam

Congrats Billy!!! Great car. I picked up a cheap '72 Vista Cruiser wagon for my wife. 350 2 barrel car. So tempting to hot rod it. Left it all stock except wheels and tires. We've driven it more than once across the state of NY to shows. Gets 18mpg always starts and drives like a Caddy. Big block Nova immediately lost my attention with its drag gears and 55mph hifhway speed. Enjoy the heck out of that straight 6 and drop top. Doesn't get any better than a stress free stock classic cruiser.

Great video. I have the same Holley motor mounts in a 69 camaro. If I'm correct, it is also the same subframe as your Nova. Can you tell me what headers you used on your LS engine? Update: I just saw your video where you show the headers you have on the car. Do you have any issues with them hanging really low below the subframe?
@BillyFargon3 ай бұрын
The headers did hang a little low but not really an issue except for when going over certain curbs. Holley doesn’t make swap headers anymore though which really sucks. So I’m not sure who would make a good set

@BillyFargon thanks for the reply. I paused your video and wrote down the number on your box. I then looked them up on Holley website and they still sell them. It specifically says they are for an LS/LT swap for a Camaro/Nova. They offer 3 different versions.

That's also my exact dream car! Color and all! My dad was an old lowrider guy from the 70s and I grew up with it in my family with a black interior but the same color blue ss and all!! I died inside when I saw your video bro! I've had a 60 Impala, two 66 ss Impalas a 69 Impala but have yet to pick up a 64 ss. My dad promised me it that it would be my first car and in the mid 90s my dad got out the pen here in California and we where drinking an BBQ at my brothers house and I called him on it and we got into a huge fist fight over it lol was sad then but in retrospect I laugh now cuz it was that serious to us both at the time. He's no longer with us but the memories of drinking my first beer as a kid in the back seat of his 64 telling him I'm thirsty on a way to a car club meeting and him handing me a beer telling me here shut up!! Lol good times. I remember us going to the paint and body shop to pick it up after paint and remember the smell of the fresh paint it smelled of candy to me. He ran Crager ss five spoke mags with TA radials. Anyways great catch bro I can't wait to hear more about your car. One love!
