So many fools just gluing it directly to wood subfloors, why not just float it if you dont know how to nail or staple ? Still sounds hollow either way over crawl space or 2nd floor.....

Thank you for the link to this and for showing how to do transitions. I have reducer moulding trim for LVP that already goes down. I want to transition from 6.5mm vinyl plank to vinyl sheet. Hopefully the gap won't be so bad but I might end up putting luan down under the vinyl sheet to raise it up a hair if there are any problems with reducer not fitting. I need to do the transition in a doorway so that will be extra fun. LOL. Ah, you have a bonus part with a doorway very similar to what I need to do. Thank you! Now I see how far in the planks need to go! Trying to see from the angle-- is it just past the stop? Or about even with the stop?

When the floor looks like that its time to wear a mask so you don't breathe that in. Using the 2x4 as a tapping block is something I never thought of. Great idea! ooh, that LVP looks nice! Whole bathroom looks nice too. Nice blue paint.

Thank you. Do you have any videos on how to install in a doorway where it goes from laminate or vinyl plank to vinyl sheet (so a lower surface)? I need to install in a room with 5 doorways. Planks will run south to north and start with a plank butting in to the south doorway. There are two doorways on the west (one an inswing door that goes to carpet and has a wood T-molding), another an outswing with a closet going to vinyl sheet, on the north there's an open doorway with no door and it goes to the kitchen that will have different flooring (not sure what yet). On the east there's an exterior door. The starting doorway has the bathroom and the door swings away from the vinyl plank. I'm trying to figure out how far into the doorway I will need to put the planks to use the reducer moulding. I know it wants a 1" gap between surfaces. I don't have any trim or baseboards to contend with as those haven't been installed yet. If you are ending at an exterior door, do you make sure the last thing is in 2 pieces to make it easier to put in? I won't have to butt under any casing or anything since I don't have any yet so I'm wondering if I can do a full board.

I’m not sure if this will help your situation but it may. Also I usually make sure my transitions how almost under the door so you can’t see on floor from the other when the door is closed. As far as installing One board in one piece if you can get something behind it and pry it in to click I don’t see where there’s a problem with that. I just tend to have better luck when I’m going under two sides and have to click in on the opposite side to do it in two pieces, hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm glad that I have a brand new door that was just installed and it doesn't have the casing on it yet. It sits a bit higher than the rest of the floor, there should be room for the door to swing in without rubbing like the old door did. My house doesn't have baseboard yet so that should simplify some things with the installation. How far into a doorway that swings away from the vinyl plank would I need to put the planks if I'm going from planks to vinyl sheet (hallway to bathroom)? I'd be using a reducer strip.

So sorry. Did you get it figured out? You can you can use 1/4 round to cover the gap. If the 1/4 round is too tall you can either send it through your table saw with bottom facing the fence or you can use shoe mold and lay it flat instead of the tall part against the door put it on the floor. Hope that helps and I will do my best to make video for this. Thanks for the comment

I’m not sure but it’s not that hard. Just make sure to cut the caulk line so you don’t mess up your paint on the wall. And use your prybar to pry forward. Not backwards. Go to 8 minutes in this video and I explain as I tear off base tile. Also I put regular baseboard on if you wanna skip to the end to check it out. QUESTION -- At 11:28 you cut the side return. Your side return is solid (not hollow). Are these solid-trim-returns sold separately and have a product name?? It doesn't look like scrap from another step's front edge. Since you have the thinner steps (hollow front curve loop), but a solid piece of side return, I'm guessing you purchased that separately?
@YOUFLOOR

No when you buy this particular style, the return come with the step. Hope that helps

Hi - I am applying 3/4" hardwood to a stairway landing, which is 6.5 ' x 3'. In this case, I am told I have to place the stair nosing first, working back to the wall (to make sure the nosing is exactly where it needs to be , snug on the edge of the stair). The back of the nosing has a groove, not a tongue. So how do I nail in the next course when there is no tongue to nail into?
@YOUFLOOR

Go to 9:52 in this video. It may help or give you an idea. You can install you nose and the first row. Then turn your floor around using a spline. It’s like the first board has 2 tonges Hope that helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6WcZGmHbr5_ldEsi=WWbFQFlCjHx4etsM

Thank you so much for your videos. This was my second quarter round installation in my life. The first day I had help, but we just could not communicate. My friend cut almost every piece incorrectly. Today I was solo. I spent a good amount of time measuring and listing each piece just like you did and cutting all the pieces for each room and then nailing them down. Today I only made 3 bad cuts out of 22 total, (2 of them were just a bit long.) Keep up the good work on posting these helpful videos! Also on the end caps you mentioned in one of your videos, it was not really clear, but once you have your trim cut at 45 degrees with the long end perpendicular to the return, then cut another piece at 90 degrees, then cut that piece at the opposite 45 to create your little cap to fit to your sample. I wasted some material trying to cut the cap from the same piece that I made the first 45 cut. I used two sample 45 cut trim pieces cut from both directions to check the fit of my caps. Once I figured out the process, I was able to cut 30 caps for my job. Thank you so much for your videos.

Great tip. Any thoughts on after the powder is applied and swept. Yet let’s say your homeowners need to use the room till you return to install the new floor. I have a kitchen and the clients want to use the kitchen till I can return after the 3 day holiday weekend. To install the new flooring. Not tracking the powder remnants to the rest of the house
