Thank you for sharing! I missed your videos and homeschooling updates!!! Would you be able to share how you assign your children school work in journals? I like this idea and am interested in implementing it in our school. We used planners for kids, but I want to try something new. I would greatly appreciate your advice and tips on how to start journal planning to encourage independence 🤍

I got it off of amazon here - amzn.to/3waI9zE - but, unfortunately, it looks like it is out of stock (we did this several years ago). It looks like there may be some options on ebay if you search for parthenon 3d puzzle.

I keep looking at both history quest and the curiosity chronicles and I am so torn between the two and completely confused as to which one to choose for the upcoming year. We are doing the History quest early times and are taking way too much time than I initially intended to, in every civilization. Although we do really like HQ and are about to finish the early times, I keep looking at CC for the medieval times. I know the format of both the books are completely different and told in different ways, but I like how both are Secular plus has world view on history. The take of both the books are so different activities wise that I am not able to decide which one to choose for the next year? as you have used both the books, I thought you might help me in deciding or give your honest opinions on how you think one curriculum might be better in what ways than the other. I like the timeline aspect of CC and think my kids will be able to see things with a broader perspective, but the chapters in the CC are so short, I feel like would they really sink in, if not told in a story format to introduce the topic (which is where I like the HQ curriculum). Do u think it might be crazy or overly ambitious to combine CC and HQ for upcoming years? As I have seen you combining CC and SOTW for a year, wanted to ask if you feel HQ and CC together is possible?
@juliaathome4 ай бұрын
I totally understand your conundrum! The good thing is that they are both great currriculums, so you can't really go wrong, you just need to figure out what is best for you and your family. I didn't think I would like the dialougue format of CC after the story format of History Quest, but it turns out that we do like it. One of the things that I like about it is that it is shorter, as HQ was a lot of reading for me, which got harder to do with the little ones that I have. I like to add quite a bit to any history curriculum we do, so we are also moving much slower than I intended. (I originally wanted to go through all of world history 3 times with each kid, but now am hoping to squeeze in 2...). You could definitely combine them, but it would be a lot for you so it depends on your time and interest. If you want to do that, take a look at the tables of contents to see how they would match together. I am pretty sure both curriculums have samples on their websites, so I would look at those yourself, and maybe even try it out with your kids to see if you like it. I hope that is helpful! Good luck!

Does this involve Maths, Science and English?
@juliaathome4 ай бұрын
It is not a comprehensive curriculum, no. But it does involve some science in the form of botony, as well as art projects. If you are feeling creative, you could probably do Maths and English connected with it, but you would have to come up with it yourself. We just used it as an add on to our other curriculum.

I love this! Thank you for sharing… I love your approach to family education (I’m an art history major turned attorney turned homeschool mom so the intersections between art and political revolutions are really interesting to me). Have your found any books on women artists (picture books?) from this time? I probably can’t do a French Revolution study with my two and four year old…
@juliaathome4 ай бұрын
Hi! An art history major turned attorney turned homeschool mom... can we be friends?! Unfortunately, I have not found any good picture books on women artists from the time. Maybe one day when the kids are older we'll need to write some... 2 and 4 is probably a little young, but no reason you can't learn about it on your own! 😁

The amount of labs scare me. I don't know if I will be able to run this. I'm tired of searching for a secular science.

I completely understand! I have actually skipped most of the labs... I have done a few, but they can be a lot, and I feel like we are still learning the material without them. Finding secular homeschool science curriculum is definitely tricky.

@juliaathome5 ай бұрын
I do not have a flip through of math 5. But it is very similar to math 3 - you can actually see the table of contents to see what is covered if you look at the website. I might have also shown the table of contents in this video... I can't remember.
