Lisa Strange well I will run a diagnostic on crankshaft position sensor with a special tool If you want to guess on it This engines has the crank sensor and the camshaft sensors (2) they have to be in harmony to be able to start easily

I have the same problem with my 2006.. i don't drive it very often but I'm trying to fix it so I can sell it. It runs great but you have to really crank on it it start up. I guess I will have it plugged into a diagnostic to see what it says.

My friend had the same problem with her 2004 Murano except her service engine light did come on. I read the codes and it said it was a camshaft position sensor. Since her engine had 167,000 miles on it and this is a notorious problem with Murano, I decided to change the two camshaft sensors and also the one crankshaft sensor. Now when my friend allows her Murano’s oil level to get too low, the car still has hesitation-especially when accelerating . That is because the camshaft sensors are affected when the oil level is low. Not enough oil is getting to the camshaft. So, when my friend adds enough oil the hesitation disappears. The dipstick on the Murano is really difficult to read correctly unless you have allowed the car to sit about 30 min with the engine off before reading. If you try to read the oil level too soon after turning off the engine, the oil seems to splash up the dipstick and give you a false higher reading when actually your oil level is low. By waiting 30 min you allow the oil to drain down the dipstick tube. I found the same difficulty reading the dipstick on an 2007 Sentra.

My 2011 has jumped teeth and it still runs fine with check engine light

Jay Dee Then you are very lucky. I have never heard of this as the margin of error is so small on these engines.

@@cliveyoung3619 my intake cam is 1 teeth advanced I took it apart and on tdc intake is jumped tensioner is bad but I got a timing chain kit kit already so not risking it but it still runs good but I hate the design on these tensioners

@@jaydee4200 Yes you are correct you can be one tooth out. It usually throws a code but will drive. It is very common that those using the camlock tool.for alignment can get it one tooth out . Astral motors has an excellent multipart video on this job. One of the best I have seen

Clive I have a question for you my Audi 1.8 patrol 2008 tfsi giving code p0016 and I started car in morning timing chain noise came and engine started shacking, still started takes 5 to 7 second but no engine light and engine got no power it's shacking alot I only started twice for 10 seconds I spoke with two garage they said replace engine and second one said must be two or three teeth out we will put new chain and start the car if worked fine if not then nothing we can do Any advice?

lol yes... massive damage that you cant even see, the issue is the tensioner is bad, as the chain stretches the tensioner cant deal with it and it collapses.

@@EJR20 i did all this work before a failure during an engine build . I replaced chain , tensioner, all new guise rails and guide rail pins.

@@cliveyoung3619 engine build before failure? So like what was the cause of a build? Oil consumption?

@@EJR20 yuppers 1 litre for every 185 miles. No that is not a typo
