Hey jugs.. do we use knightly long sword as a tank all the way through or do we need to find upgrades? The dps would be hard to keep threat with no? Unless you judge crusader and seal righteousness but wisdom is much better for keeping a good flow..

If you’re still alive.. some weapon progression would be nice for 1h swords.. not sure if tanking with knightly is worth after like level 40 or something right?

Love the video cause no one else seemed to realize how good spirit is for Paladins :D However your formula for calculating Spirit is wrong; Mana Regen from Spirit for Paladins = Total Spirit x 0.2 + 15

200 int is 3.000 mana before talents or kings and you can more easily fulfill a different role in case your healer goes MIA. But eagle plate gear is hard to come by sadly. Your value for missing attacks seems to be a bit on the high end for similar level mobs. Which should make SoW/JoW slightly more interesting.

This is amazing, I've been binging Pally Time's video's trying to understand them in the exact way you've just finally got me to understand them. You are the herald of the PallyTime Spirit/Stam build! Someone who is able to convey the information in a clean precise manner and importantly short efficient one <3. I hope one day you explore the Holy tree version to see what one of those would be like! I suspect it'd be an Int/Stam build since you said this build wouldn't work for Holy but Paly's videos often say you can go back into it to "finish it out". Always been curious if you just do like a 31/19 Holy build how good that would be with the 100% mana return on Holy spells for that spark spell. Or even 19/19/11 for the reduce seals and parry stuff in retribution. Like how much beyond the Redoubt + 30% shield damage and BoP and +mele hit do you really need over that "oop got free health + mana from crits" from holy. Or oop getting parries now from ret. Or opp now my seals and judges are significantly less mana overall efficiency.

How to use Avengers shield as ret? Macro to swap to a shield, cast SotC, Cast Avengers shield, judgement, SotM, Swap to 2h. 30 second CD instead of 15. Hits 3 targets instead of 1. You're pentuple dipping. Str on gear, SoM, SotC, JotC, Divine str. Crusader strike offsets mana cost of SotM, 4.5% max mana per 9 versus 4% cost to reseal. If spirit ticks (2 per 9) is greater than cost of judgement, it is sustainable to judge for damage. When level 40 cap happens, Avengers shoukd increase up time of conviction over Exorcism.

man, good work, i know all about wow and mostly paladin stuff, but never thinked about lvl stam/spirit... usually i used stam/intel... now om lvl 30 hc paladin i have 140 spirit and its awesome mana regen <3 love theorycrafting and this one is really good. Respec and reckoning <3 on lvl 60 best solo /tank/raid spec is 13/25/13 try it :)

@JugsOfLight please help! Isn't Rune Sword (of The Bear) better for tanking? It's 1.6s speed, so only 0.1s slower, but deals far more damage than Knightly Longsword. I asked @PallyTime but he said KL is still better

Best explanation for FSR, I end up confusing people more when i try to explain it. My favorite thing about healing pally tanks is that they drink often enough that i dont feel bad about stopping for mana. >_<

I played a resto Druid in vanilla wow and focused on a high spirit build. With the Druid talent reflection, it allowed 15% mana to continue to regenerate even while casting. Additionally, innervate benefitted from having a higher mana regen rate. I used to have around 450 spirit when raid buffed if I remember correctly. Worked really well, especially when you could manage the five second rule into your gameplay. Innervate could easily restore you to full mana.

I tried the spirit route but it just didnt work well for me, i have no issues using cheap mana pots constantly (er, when i need it, which isnt all that often) so sacrificing all my melee strength for a little bit a mana regen is completely not worth it, especially when you have seal of light, wisdom, nightfin, etc. and on a small note block value. I generally tank 3-4 mobs at a time and i never run out of life, or really mana unless i go out of my way to dump it. I can see it working in later expansions when spell power is a lot more plentiful, but on hc? meh.

did this in the past with a holy paladin. even more impressive is when your healer doesn't need to drink in classic

This will all go away once classic plus gets announced and paladins get balanced/fixed. There are sure many demands out there for paladin class to be buffed!

while the math isn't exact, what's posted online is actually a formula that gives you LESS than what would be calculated. Roughly it's 25% of your spirit per health regen tick, and sitting increases your exact tic regen by 33% there's definitely a slight coefficient missing in the formula but at 96 spirit I regen 27/28 HP a tic standing. Mana regen is roughly calculated at 15+(5/spirit) increased roughly by .5% per point of intellect (while not accurate, gave an error of roughly 8% LESS than what I was regening at different spirit points). Personally, I do think spirit is one of the most criminally underrated stats while leveling as most classes with the exception of warlock and mage. And exceptionally powerful on warrior and rogue (at roughly 80% and 50% respectively)

I use gw2ui it has a good 5 sec role bar and its overall realy helpfull and simple to understand
