I hope your return to "normal living" has improved and gotten easier. It just makes complete sense that it would be a major adjustment. You were living a VERY VERY different lifestyle for the better part of a year. I do believe that you should make some "off the trail hike goals". Continue with the making it for God goal, to chill a bit (try to pause and think logically about your day to day life, what is important, what should the real priorities be, keeping in mind the many many many times God stepped in to support you and will continue to do so? Your family, your relationship with God, your friends, your health yes BUT I think you can ease up on that one a bit, you are an athlete you likely need to work more on letting your health slide a bit in areas like nutrition and exercise.) Just suggestions, but I bet you already are working on it all and succeeding. I so enjoyed following your journey, you did an amazing job!

Thank you, DCara. I appreciate your advice. I will think about the things you've said. Quite frankly, the transition has been rough. I think I'm having a bit of post trail depression. I really feel bad even mentioning it right now, because so many people are in dire circumstances, and I am so very blessed! Things just don't seem to fit right now. I'm still trying to figure out why. I'm doing normal old things, but it feels so pointless and monotonous after seeing something different every day, and moving all the time towards my goal. I feel guilty even saying that because I'm so very blessed! I have no long term goal now. I am feeling better physically...less tired and less pain. Walking is mostly for my mental and emotional health, but I'm walking the same road every day, so it does not have the same appeal that walking the AT did....but I live in a beautiful rural place in the woods...so I feel guilty for feeling that way! Walking also helps work out the physical kinks! ...I guess I'm saying that I feel like I need to keep walking. I have eased up on my normal 'home' diet for now, but I'm not eating junk. My appetite has leveled out. ...since you indicated you might be interested in how I am doing. 😁😉 That all might have been more than you wanted to know! 😂 Not sure it even makes sense. 🤔

@@ReboundontheATIt does make sense. Don’t feel guilty for feeling your feelings. I’ve just come through an extremely busy time at my work, I was working evenings and weekends. I really can’t say I loved it, I wished I didn’t have to but I also didn’t hate it and it made me feel quite accomplished when I saw how I was progressing. Now that season has just about passed, my evenings are more free to spend with my family, do hobbies, etc. But I feel weird not working every evening, and I don’t really feel like doing some of the other things. I have thought about making a list of the things I want to do but I haven’t yet. I know it’ll pass and I will get back to my normal but it’ll take time. I imagine it is sort of the same for you but on a much larger scale. Such a huge goal and you’ve worked so hard daily for years to achieve it, now you have! But like OK, it’s done, no major fanfare, no one is moment-by-moment saying ‘hey you did that, wasn’t that incredible?!’ I’m not suggesting you need all that but you sort of do, it was and is a BIG DEAL, you could use like a support group. A group of people who did the AT this year, people you can talk about it to, like a debriefing after coming home from a war. People who are I bet experiencing a lot of the same feelings. It’s likely why people like Let it Be are pretty much always on the trail, because getting off the trail takes work. Anyway, I just wanted to say don’t feel guilty, give yourself a break, feel your feelings, give it time.

Thank you for sharing this, and thank you for understanding. I can see how our situations are similar. Yes, it does help to talk to people who understand. I think a support group is a great idea. I'm okay...and I WILL be okay. I just needed to say something. I'm still trying to process things and figure them out. I wasn't expecting this, because it wasn't this much of a shock the past two times. I don't know exactly what you did, but congrats on accomplishing what you did at work, and for the growth that happened there. I'm praying that both our transitions iron out quickly. If we need to refocus, that God would show us that clearly, if we need new routines, that we would be open to change, that all involved would have patience as we readjust, and that we would both have patience with ourselves, give ourselves grace and be kind to ourselves...that we would be kind to our loved ones when we, ourselves, are feeling unsure, impatient, off kilter, etc.,...that we would be patient and understanding with loved ones who stepped in and took our places and did our jobs when we couldn't be there,...and mostly that this, too, would be an opportunity for spiritual growth.

I was away from home working with a group in TN for Hurricane Helene relief so wasn't able to watch your final video until returning home. What a wonderful testament to God's care for you this story has been! I will miss my daily dose of Rebound now that you are back home. I am thankful that you took us along for the ride. I have a stack of Brant Hansen books I've been working my way through ever since you shared his book Blessed are the Misfits. I pray that you can find peace at home again as life starts to settle into your usual routine. Hold on to the lessons you learned on your journey and use them to share God's love and grace to those around you. Thank you for bringing us all a little joy each day. <3

Oh my, Rebound! What a truly lovely and poignant closure video. Couldn’t help but shed some tears of gratitude for you and your completed journey. Been following since I first stumbled across your announcement video. Seems so long ago. I want to share how much I appreciated your filming style as you captured the beauty of the trail. I always loved the music, which was very calming. I also appreciated your honesty about your experience. I know you feel ready to be done with it all, but you have established a community here and there could be some occasional simple future videos. Take us along on your walks and show us the beauty of where you live. Tell us how things have evolved once you’ve had some time to acclimate. Many of us would probably appreciate hearing what gear worked for you (or didn’t). I know some of us would be curious about the food plan you follow at home because you talked about it quite a bit. Of course, we would love to see the missing videos and your images from Katahdin if you are able to recover them! At the very least I can picture just some of your beautiful scenery videos without talking if that remains less comfortable. But you also have a perspective to share. Of course you have to do whatever is right for you, but just my two cents. 🥰 Thanks for taking us along. What a story! As Seneca once said, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end!” Congratulations!! (PS…my favorite line here is “One of my goals was to chill and go with the flow and he just nearly fell over laughing!”🤣 ❤🎉 We are all works in progress, emphasize “in progress!” Be well and enjoy the fulfillment of your dream!)

I've been blessed by your strong faith and your willingness to be so honest, transparent, and vulnerable. I'll be praying for you as you rest, recover, and settle back in at home. You were so real; good, bad, terrible, and grateful; I appreciate your authenticity. I've always wanted to hike and we do day hikes but life will not allow us too nor am I brave enough anymore. Thank you, Mama Bear. ❤️ You can start getting in shape by doing one mile at a time, and adding to that distance as you are ready. That said, everyone who starts the trail takes a while to get in shape. We call it 'getting our trail legs'. Never say never! I'm still praying about what God has in store for me, whether it be my channel or something else. I do understand how people feel about me dropping off the face of the earth, and I do at least want to do a QAndA video, if I can get it together.

Can someone pass the tissues, please😭🤧😢 Congratulations Rebound ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 It's been a pleasure being a part of your thru hike. Thank you for bringing us along and dealing with some good days and some rough days while getting content and editing. I think for someone who doesn't like being in front of a camera and making videos, you did great! Im sorry you had a terrible last day. I've heard others say that when they reached Katahdin, they kinda expected to feel different than they ended up feeling. They were happy and tearful and glad it was over. But they expected a big grand finale feeling, and it didn't happen. Also, the weakness in your legs is probably from using different muscles. You'd been walking on pretty flat ground for a while, and then you had to climb again. Captain Jack had the same problem. Im so proud of you. Your bravery and how you pushed yourself even when you just wanted to go home. God had other plans, and we witnessed this throughout your thru hike. Thank God for bringing people into your life when you needed them. From the women at the hostel that helped so much, and Let it be and his friends. Im so happy you completed the trail, but I am also sad that we won't be hearing from you on a daily basis anymore. Big kudos to Bud for being a great support person and also holding down the fort. Please do a video of the animals' reactions when you got home, and maybe the first meal you ate, and is it hard sleeping at home after being in a tent? Thank you, Sandra. I sincerely HOPE that is true! It feels like there is something more...I just haven't gotten the answer yet!

I too will never forget you. I feel so honored to have been a distant part of your incredible journey. I feel so very emotional over this ending. I am not clear on why. You are one of the beautiful ones Rebound. Thank you for allowing me to witness you and in that - discover more about myself. Thank you. Sending Love...
