In an interview a year (or so) ago he said there is/was a substitute for his drug as a justification for the price hike.

“Why don’t you lower prices to increase demand” because people don’t get sicker when the price goes down. Everyone in this interview is a clown

sometimes I revisit this interview to watch what it's like to obliterate a bunch of clueless journalists. Martin's the kind of guy that calibrates people who don't have skin in the game.

Gotta love how the 🐍 from Forbes sat there and pretended he was unaware that CEO's have a fiduciary responsibility to make their shareholders money. I remember when this was happening and at the time I thought Martin was evil incarnate, now I see that he's most likely just not a "bloodline" businessman and they tried to get rid of him. This was mind blowing.

Can someone explain what Martin's point is? He just goes on and on naming diseases and drugs. What's his justification for raising the price by 5000%?

He gives away 65% of his drug for free. With the price hike his company still loses money. He mentioned he needs the money for research because the the rare disease needs is gaining resilience and he the only one researching it. A 70 year old drug that no one cares about hit him since it’s so rare
@obeyabe8613 Жыл бұрын
I'm 6 months late, but basically, you have those Drugs in low demand, that are named Orphan drugs. Those drugs barely gets any research put into them due to low demand. So what you get, is those HealthCare companies selling those (shitty drugs that causes more bad than good). His company bought the rights of those drugs, improved it, and jacked up the price of selling it to the market. In consequence, those HealthCare insurance would make extreme financial losses to buy those drugs and sell it to consumers. But he actually put fairly rigorous measures in place to make sure people who couldn’t afford the new price would still get the drug. I think he remarked that he had gone as far to personally purchase the drug and mail it to people who had reached out to him. Ig you see where I'm going with this, what the guy has actually done is serving those drugs for free and gave those insurance companies a big middle finger (which is why there's a large narrative of him being the most hated man in America)

Look she was 18 here lol. Yes, she was unprepared as hell but give her a break. The better question is, where did this interview come from? Just random webcam? An assigned interview? That makes a huge difference because Shkreli knows this, we do not. And if you have spent a second prepping for an interview, you know exactly what I am referring to. If not, learn lol. I'm a dick myself, that's why I was so surprised at these guys commenting so negatively about this 18 year old high school girl. Shiit I was a dumbs when I was 18 and I'm successful now.
