both sound quite similar. hard choice, I think its come down to: Martin got a better resale value and Larrivee is best bang for the buck. maybe its hard to tell on video but pretty sure live the Martin sound a little bit louder due to the scalloped bracing. I own a d-18 but I'm sure I would'nt be disappointed with a d-03.

This is the original pickguard as far as I can tell. Not sure about other options.

I had a former Larrivee dealer give them very, very high marks for quality and craftsmanship. He stated they are one of the last true values in the industry. Thanks for the comparison.

Mate, It doesnt matter if you are playing a $5 guitar it will still sound great, because great guitarists when they touch their guitar? They having a conversation with your soul. Just like you just did now.

but one question though, if you have to choose between a Larrivee and a Furch, which one would it be? Thank you from Down Under

I have 3 old Yamahas. There's something about those all laminate guitars that just sound better with age. You can say all you want about solid wood, but these old Yamahas are something else !!! 1973 FG 170 1979 FG 335 1983 FG 335ii

I own both a Larrivee D03R (rosewood) and a Martin D28. Both excellent guitars, but they definitely have different voicing. The Larrivee is tighter sounding overall with more mids and a fantastic neck, but at times can't seem to handle the powerful bass response and the tone seems to die out once you're playing chords up past the 7th fret, while the Martin is definitely more open and bassier/less balanced, but in that classic Martin sort of way. I love both for different reasons.

I recently got a 1998 Larrivee D-09, hands down the best dreadnought I've played. Super comfy and a beautiful, rich and balanced sound. There's a demo on my channel if anyone's interested

SO--is there ample bass offered by the Larrivee? Some D-18s have surprising bass. My Koa back/sides LV-10 Larrivee has adequate bass, but I wouldn't say Rosewood type boomy. But plenty of bass nonetheless. Is the D-03 rich in mids and bass for strumming, without getting frazzled?

Great! I have one just like it, a Gurian J-M. I have 2 more; S3M (Mahogany) and a S3K custom wide neck. A Koa back and sides, spruce top with a neck thats more like a spanish guitar. It´s a killer! Just so that you know. Gurian made guitars for the "folk" people. Dylan, Joan Baez, Jackson Browne, David Lindley and Paul Simon all had one, among others. Paul Simon stated in a very recent interview here on KZbin that ALL his solo recordings since the breakup with Garfunkel are made with his Gurian. ALL! His favorite guitar. Thanks Michael Gurian!!

Please tell me what is the trick for getting this battery out? I'm struggling. It faces the curve, so there's not a lot of room to work with. I pressed in hoping it would pop out and tried to pull down, but I can't get it to come out.

such wonderful -- beautiful playing! You really feel the guitar. I am a long time Larrivee player. Question: what kind of action/string height do you prefer? I like it very very low.
@TomLumenOfficial

Thanks, man! As Im getting older I like lower and lower string tension. Of course it gives you less dinamic range but also teaches you how to play really soft. :)
