All of the ballet in sleeping beauty really takes me back to when I was in a ballet company and sleeping beauty was one of the ballets I performed numerous times.love the ballet itself ❤❤❤❤

Lol, the "disneyfied" of the story is hilarious. It takes away the real meaning of Victor's Hugo's messages...

Egyptian Mythology tells a story of Isis, Osiris, and Nephthys. Nephthys pretends to be Isis as she is jealous of her sisters relationship with Osiris. She deceives Osiris and Isis finds out and is heartbroken. Osiris begs for her forgiveness…. Sounds similar yes? Mythology at the root of all timeless classics ❤thank you for making this video!

Just wanted to share information that I know about this beautiful balled. Gisselle’s mom asked her not to dance. her mom wasn’t really worried that her daughter would die, Gisele was sick girl , she worried that she would die and become Willie. Because the village they lived in , was surrounded by the woods where Willie’s were. Everyone in the village knew what was going on there. In old times , when balled had many gestures , her mom would show with her hands “don’t dance that much , you’ll become Willie. Also, in original libretto , Wilies were coming to those woods all other the world. In order to become Willie , they had to be two things going on 1. Girls that were Willies loved dancing . 2. They were betrayed by man Also , the only reason Why Albert survived was because Hans , that loved Gisele , put a cross on her grave.

I remember listening to Galina Ulanova about this ballet, she was mentioning that it’s not written in libretto , how much time passed between 1st and 2st act , so Albert might returned to this village after 10,20 or even 30 years . In addition , Forgot to mention , Gisselle wasn’t buried on cemetery , she is buried in the woods which is near this village

So The Lake of the Swans was originally a Ballet-Pantomime for Tchaikovsky's Nieces and Nephews created in 1871 at his sister's home in Ukraine.
