I've never seen or heard of this fight ever. My opinion: Taylor was clearly knocked out. The referee asked him TWICE if he was OK and Taylor was completely dazed and confused. I don't see what the big controversy is/was.

i don’t care what anyone say, this is one of the worst stoppages in boxing history, Taylor was way ahead on points, 5 seconds is all he needed to win this bout Steele is the only ref to stop a fight with 5 seconds to go. I understand a punch could of came at the end but Taylor is a professional boxer instincts kick in when in dire situations, All the ref had to to was let taylor weather the storm for 5 more seconds but he didn’t let that happen and in turn i believe this is the worst stoppage in boxing history it would of taken another 2 seconds for chavez to get over to Taylor so in theory all taylor needed was 3 seconds and they robbed him of his victory Taylor was never the same after this sadly. so either way damage was done. to everyone saying this was a great stoppage you’re crazy and overthink just like this incompetent ref.

According to the rules of the sport, at that moment he has lost the match. If Steele had let an out on his feet man continue after confirming he was out on his feet just because the clock had run down anyway, he would have engineered a win outside of the rules.
