But when Oscar decided to take the 2nd half of the fight off, It was so bizzare and weird. I noticed Tito was gaining ground in the later rounds, but when they announced him as the winner, I was SHOCKED (happily but still). If you can sit there and seriously say that Tito Trinidad actually "WON" the fight... out boxing, out hitting, hurting, bloodying, and everything else a fighter can do to showcase a complete ass whooping... you're either from Puerto Rico, or just an ignorant fan that hates De La Hoya. At least say that in the comments below, to warrant human respect by simply speaking from your heart. You can give Trinidad Rounds 2, 3, 10, 11 & 12, in the most non-bias and giving sense, and still can't justify him winning Rounds 6, 7, 8 & 9. Two of the judges gave Trinidad Rounds 8 & 9, with one of them being the worst of the worst in Jerry "I love Don King Money" Roth. Trinidad is one of the greatest fighters of all time, but got out boxed "CLEARLY" on that September night back in 1999.

I just saw this fight with the sound off and I scored it 115 to 113 for Trinidad. There is a difference between boxing and running and Oscar would start boxing but the second he got hit by Trinindad or close to it, he would get on his bike.

I gotta admit de la Hoya had that fight in the bag. He should of stayed fighting n not run. My guess that the rematch never happened cause de la Hoya knee he really had to fight this man to win n Trinidad was way to strong for him so it never happened

Every pro boxer back then told Oscar do not exchange with Tito because he would lose and even could have gotten knocked out. I think Oscar knew that and was scared of it happening so he ran the last 3-4 rounds and it cost him the biggest fight of his career

Master class by Oscar for 9 rounds and then he dropped the ball...even picked it up and scored it on his own goal. Still Oscar MD 7-5 rounds. 1 judge a draw. Other judge a draw or 7-5 Oscar.

The whining from Oscar fans is deafening. First this isn’t amateur night in Las Vegas. This is professional boxing where you don’t win just because you seemed to have landed more punches. To hear Oscar say “ I landed 120 more punches” is priceless. This fight exposed “De La Chicken” for who he really was. Tito chased him all night period. Took his flashy little love taps and continued moving forward. The fact that he ran away during the championship rounds is evidence of his lack of confidence in being able to finish the fight. If you run you are really saying that I’m afraid of getting caught and losing. It also violates the first rule of boxing “ Don’t leave it up to the judges”. Although Oscar went on to win multiple titles in the alphabet soup of sanctioning bodies and the myriad of weight classes he always seemed to lose the real meaningful fights. I mean he lost fights when he was the heavy favorite. Real champions don’t fold like that. To me he’ll always be “Chicken DeLaHoya”

Somewhat overrated era/weight class in boxing - especially DeLahoya/Trinidad/Quartey/Mosley. Good fighters, but think about a few of the qualities that make a fighter "Great": 1) Overcoming adversity (See Leonard vs Hearns I). These guys padded their records against over the hill ex-champs (Chavez, Camacho, Whitaker, etc.) and mediocre contenders 2) Dominating a great fighter from bell to bell (RJJ vs James Toney) 3) Heart to (clearly) win. DeLaHoya barely did enough to squeak by Quartey (and Quartey did the same, because the fight could've gone either way), DeLahoya didn't close the show against Trinidad, and Felix didn't bother showing up for the first 9 rounds

Tito was my favourite fighter but Oscar was my second and I really felt for Oscar. He tried to make boxing #1 again and they fucked him. De la hoya never ducked anyone. Mayweather can't claim those things. I still think Oscar should have got a draw at least with Floyd and he was way past his prime.

I think they’re oversimplifying it. I disagree that Oscar won 8 of the first 12 rounds and just gave it away. I’m won’t necessarily argue scoring it for De La Hoya, but I don’t think he won it going away either. The first 4 rounds in particular were very give and take. Close rounds with both guys getting their power shots in and could understandably have been scored either for Trinidad or De La Hoya. And the we know what happened from round 9 on, which Oscar himself admitting he was tired. The rematch at 154 would have settled the issue once and for all.

I hate delahoya bro I bet 100 bucks on Trinidad and I remember being fuckin pissed I had already handed my buddy the money before they even read the scorecard. Delahoya killed him bro. Where we were watching it at me and two people were for Tito everyone else was for Oscar and I'm still not an Oscar fan. I quit liking Trinidad after this fight though he got his ass kicked. Mayweather runs from everyone and how does someone land almost 150 more punches and connected over 30 percent better on his punches. It wasn't close. Really made me lose my faith in boxing. I don't like Oscar even more after him letting a 50 year old Chuck Liddell fight Tito. I'm not sticking up for a crossdresser lol I think because he was so unlikeable is why he got robbed by the judges all the time he got robbed vs Mosely, and Mayweather too. I can't believe pacman whooped his ass so bad but couldn't beat Mayweather though.

Never trust the judges... especially if you can finish a fight. Oscar did not throw punches with the intention of hurting tito... he used more volume just to keep him away... He had the punching power to ko any ww if he could connect cleanly. Is his own fault.

This video portrays de la hoya as he was really fighting and winning the fight with tito! If you want the truth for yourself watch the real fight and turn off the volume. Then count clean actually landed punches. Tito fight better than delahoya. Delahoya run away the whole and while delahoya threw a lot of punches , 75% of all his punches thrown were misses. Sounds crazy right but pretty much for every 4 punches delahoya threw he might land 1. And to top that off run ran away from tito for 2:20 minutes in every round leaving little room for either boxer to land a punch. The most crazy thing I saw in the fight was the stats they were showing for delahoya and tito for punches thrown and landed. Now that was some real BULLSHIT there was No way delahoya threw like 400 and land 170! While i saw him maybe land about 13 landed punches out of like 60 thrown in that same round they tried to over exaggerate delahoya stats like crazy. Tell me how do you ran away for 2.20min in every round and there is only 3.00 in a round and they say delahoya threw 400 punches in 40seconds ! Really... that would mean for every 1 second he would have to throw 10 punches . Nope delahoya was fast but not that fast bro. Anyways... The real reason delahoya blow the last 3 rounds is tito caught delahoya a couple times to the face , so delahoya didn't want to get knocked out so he stopped swinging and missing to just run away even more than he did all the other rounds. Anyways...
