The studio looks amazing! Good job! I really enjoyed getting a peek at Twinkie. I couldn’t believe how much creosote builds up in the stove pipe! I received your letter today which reminded me to check your channel as I didn’t get the usual YT notification. Canada Post has been threatening to go on strike for weeks and finally served a strike notice. I wanted to let you know as a strike would obviously impact Xmas mail deliveries. I hope you are well!
@colorcapacity2779Ай бұрын
I appreciate the compliment! Good to get a heads-up so I wouldn't wonder about the Post. I've had a cold/flu and just can't shake the lingering cough. I should get more rest but I also want to keep up momentum on the studio. I hope you're doing better than I am?
@lheurebleueathome35Ай бұрын
@ Canada Post went on strike as of midnight last night. They announced that there will be no mail delivery and any mail currently in the system will stay stuck there. I am thankful I received your letter before the strike! I wrote a reply but will hang on to it until the strike is over. I have been busy with a return to working life and some behind the scenes personal dramas. I hope you are on the mend. Take good care of yourself!

I don't mind your strange planet... As a matter of fact, I'm kind of tired of this overcrowded one. (When is the next shuttle leaving for that planet?)... Oh, I like what you've done here. Khadi paper is a bit inconsistent, but I love the thinner sheets. Thanks for sharing your art (and the songs of your neighborhood birds)!

It’s what unclassy trained artist do when they give up their scrapbooking materials and want to pick up crafts and think this is what they can do with paints. Just paint a fucking picture.

Thank You Cindy. This is why I post little bits of my life because not everyone is able to get outside or has the same things where they are. I often enjoy little things that people post like walking in rainstorms or their local shops because I don't have the same terrain or stores in my area. Glad you enjoyed!

My 3 travel brushes are Articas size 2 and 6, and Escoda Optimo/Ultimo/? Size 12 (fake squirrel wash brush).
@colorcapacity27796 ай бұрын
A nice choice of sizes- just enough to cover everything without being cumbersome in the field.
@jenwilly72606 ай бұрын
The Articas are Escoda Perlas made for Jackson's by Escoda. They are awesome for detail work, but they don't hold enough water for washes and stuff. I recently ordered a bunch of the smaller Articas (5-0, 4-0, 3-0, 2-0, and 0) for my fussy detail work. Still looking for good brushes for juicy washes and wet-on-wet stuff...

I love this book. One thing I did towards the was swatch out all my similar colors together, so that I can really compare the differences, such as swatching all my sap greens from different vendors. I just finished swatching out all my yellows and now I can really see the cool vs. warm yellows.

Great haul. I am sympathetic to the rain situation. The rain is obstructing the construction of my new bushcraft shelter as a homeless whistle-blower in Vermont winters. Rained all summer, all winter, now all spring. The flooding in the valley created a national disaster so FEMA was called in 😢

@colorcapacity27797 ай бұрын
Hi Sylvia- This was 2 years ago but I see currently Jerrys Artarama has a deal for 15 sheets for $62.13 which works out to about $4.14 a sheet. No affiliation but I shop from them online and have never had an issue. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

How many times do we duplicate a color we already have? A travel size would solve that problem.
@ChoochooseU9 ай бұрын
FYI: I took some of the sections and used a ruler and waterproof pen to cut the boxes in half so I could fit more information on a page at a time. I love this and will purchase another as needed. My book is mixed media and I’ve swatched watercolor, gouache, watercolor pencils, water activated oil pastels, and Charvin pastel sticks as well. It’s held up to all and the clear buffer between us super nice.

Dividing the boxes is a great idea. I love having all my colors in one convenient place.

Thank you SO MUCH for showing this book. I can't afford to spend money lightly, and so many art books on Amazon have only a few pages shown. I love Terry Runyan, and this book is awesome!
@colorcapacity27799 ай бұрын
I think we've all made some purchasing mistakes. I think Amazon made a bad decision taking off their "look closer" feature for books. If I can't see the table of contents and a few pages, I'm also afraid to take a chance. Thanks for your comments!

I would have liked it if you had shown how it opens up especially with the fold that flips up/down. Thank you for the demonstration.
@colorcapacity27799 ай бұрын
Too bad I missed that point. I'm sure you aren't the only viewer who wanted to see how it opens and it IS a bit tricky but it really only opens and folds one way, so you wouldn't get too lost when using it or looking back over it later. The nice thing is you eventually do use both sides of each section of paper and that's what makes it so economical.

The blood pressure thing is such a pain in the posterior! I’m in chronic pain which also raises the blood pressure and have been fighting it for years. Big hugs! I’ve been painting with Daniel Smith for years and, even though they are expensive, they last forever! The set you got contains my staples minus the Pyrrol Scarlet. The Quin Rose is so versatile, it is my go to “red”. Also, do yourself a favor and mix up the Quin Rose with some Ultramarine. You will get a beautiful purple! Finally, I’m a recent convert to New Gamboge. It is such a magical color!

Glad for your support, and welcome. It helps to remember we are not the only ones struggling with health issues. Thanks for the suggestion on the purple. I haven't done with mixing yet so I'll try it! -something to look forward to!
