Hey @librarybooks we were wondering if you would be interested in reading the world atlas we wrote? (If not yeah I get it, I might not respond to a random comment in my comment section either ) Our atlas is called "The World A Comprehensive Guide to Geopolitics" It has breakdowns for over 1,400 geographic regions covered. Every continent, every UN member, every partially recognized nation (Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine etc.), every autonomous region, every external territory. We even included breakdowns for every known base camp in Antarctica, by both summer and winter populations. It has over 440 colorized maps. And over 490 colorized flags. And we even included a geography section full of facts such as the largest rivers, lakes, deserts, the lowest elevations, highest altitudes, longest mountain ranges, most northerly and southerly nations just to name a few. It took us almost 2 years to make. I'm proud of it. We finally published on June 12, 2024. Almost 2 and a half months ago.

I saw the series for sale on eBay and have been trying to track down book series published by the Encyclopedia Britannica but didn't find much about them online. This brilliant phrase has never been bettered (imho) as the ultimate description of what happened to Europe in the 20th century. Thank you for your presentation.

I watched an interview with the author some years ago and I remember him saying that his intention was to make the reader feel like a child. When you’re a child pre alphabetisation, and you open an encyclopaedia, you don’t understand anything: you can’t read! You’re just in awe with the illustrations. I think it’s a great concept. To fill grown ups with a sense of wonder again.

Thank you for showcasing these beautiful books and it's contents. I already have Reformation: Europe's House Divided by Diarmaid Macculloch, folio edition. Is the set, really that anti-christian? I ask that because of: ‘I hope that this book will help readers stand back from Christianity, whether they love it or hate it, or are simply curious about it, and see it in the round.’ Neil MacGregor, from his introduction
@librarybooks
@librarybooks Ай бұрын
Not being a Christian myself, I'm not sure that my answer (which is that it's not at all anti-Christian) is helpful. However, Rowan Williams, a former archbishop of Canterbury, gave it an excellent review, and said: "at a time when Christianity's profile in our culture is neither as positive nor as extensive as it has been, this book is crucial testimony to the resilience of the Christian community in a remarkable diversity of social settings." www.theguardian.com/books/2009/sep/19/history-christianity-diarmaid-mccullouch
