Your video partially helped me figure out what was going on. I just wanted to add in the comment section. I made a video of the exact same thing because that didn’t work all the time for me. It only worked once and it made me realize that there was something sticking and all you need to do is give it a little smack you don’t even need to take it out of gear or push that button and you don’t even need to take it out of ACC position. All you need to do is smack the gear shifter, and it will disengage that pin, allowing you to remove your key fob fob fob.

I tried this with one milwaukee battery, my kid is small and I got the quad with dead batteries. Idea was to throttle the quad until he grow up a bit and gets comfortable. Even with a fully charged 5ah battery the controller sees under voltage and cuts the power to zero. I cleaned the motor and connected the battery directly to the leads on the motor and 18v spinns it well, so I'm estimating it's the controller. Ill try the dual batteries next, and maybe put in a 22-24v voltage drop resistor.
@mcarr8685
@mcarr8685 3 ай бұрын
@@DRIFTWORKSINC I added a potentiometer to mine with both batteries. I mounted it under the fender so the little kids wouldn't medlss with it. A potentiometer is a dial to throttle the motor.

I don't see any problems with this mod other than it can be a little too fast for the little kids. adding a potentiometer to the controller wire is recommended for a limiter.
@mcarr8685
@mcarr8685 9 ай бұрын
Depending on amp hours of the battery you are using the 9ah batteries last about 30 percent longer than the stock batteries. They also don't slow down until they are dead.

If you just upgrade to a nice aftermarket exhaust with wider (unrestricted) downpipe, you will unlock a ton more power and a fair bit more speed. With new clutch rollers, or lighter ones, you can greatly enhance acceleration or manipulate top speed. 70mph is a typical speed for any 125cc 4 stroke, even Hondas. Its common entry performance level for all standard scooters 125cc, along with 10 to 15 bhp only. The Helix must have around 20bhp or more, and should be capable of much more than 70mph. Unless Honda gave the Helix the same engine base and gears as its 125cc range of models. But usually bike companies give smaller models the larger base engines, so upgrades can be done to performance. My point is, I expected the Helix, even if from the 80s, should be able to hit a speed of 80 to 90mph in stock form, as that is more common performance for 250cc basic scooters.

@@madhatterentmt6146 thats a solid speed for a 250 stock. Kymco make some nice looking bikes, there are a lot of them where i live. And the nice thing is i bet the kymco can cruise at 60 or 70mph with comfortable ease around 5 or 6k rpm.
