They are still using the quad i got it out of the garage and the kids rode for a couple hours last weekend. I did thos mod to another one and it has been going strong for 8 months also.
@DRIFTWORKSINC4 ай бұрын
I tried this with one milwaukee battery, my kid is small and I got the quad with dead batteries. Idea was to throttle the quad until he grow up a bit and gets comfortable. Even with a fully charged 5ah battery the controller sees under voltage and cuts the power to zero. I cleaned the motor and connected the battery directly to the leads on the motor and 18v spinns it well, so I'm estimating it's the controller. Ill try the dual batteries next, and maybe put in a 22-24v voltage drop resistor.
@mcarr86853 ай бұрын
@@DRIFTWORKSINC I added a potentiometer to mine with both batteries. I mounted it under the fender so the little kids wouldn't medlss with it. A potentiometer is a dial to throttle the motor.

Yes it still is going strong with the same motor and controller. i did put a potentiometer on it to tame the max speed for the younger riders. however most riders use full 36v.

Hoping you can help. I hooked up 2 18v Ryobi batteries in series and it worked for like 10 min and stoped. Showing 37-40v but doesn’t run. I even switched the controller and throttle out to 36v

How much longer does the quad last?
@mcarr868510 ай бұрын
I don't see any problems with this mod other than it can be a little too fast for the little kids. adding a potentiometer to the controller wire is recommended for a limiter.
@mcarr86859 ай бұрын
Depending on amp hours of the battery you are using the 9ah batteries last about 30 percent longer than the stock batteries. They also don't slow down until they are dead.
