A lock-in amplifier works by using a technique called phase-sensitive detection to extract a signal at a specific frequency, even when that signal is buried in noise. Here’s how it operates in basic steps: 1. Reference Signal: The lock-in amplifier receives a reference signal that oscillates at the frequency of the signal you want to measure. This reference signal can come from an external source or be generated internally. 2. Mixing: The input signal, which contains both the signal of interest and noise, is multiplied (mixed) by the reference signal. This process shifts the frequency of the input signal, creating new components at the sum and difference of the input and reference frequencies. 3. Low-Pass Filtering: After mixing, the result is passed through a low-pass filter. This filter removes high-frequency components (like noise and the sum frequency component), leaving behind only the DC component (which corresponds to the signal at the reference frequency). 4. Phase Locking: The lock-in amplifier also compares the phase of the input signal with the reference signal. If the signal is out of phase, it will adjust the phase reference until it aligns with the input signal. This ensures that only signals with both the correct frequency and phase are detected, further rejecting unwanted noise. 5. Output: The output is a DC voltage proportional to the amplitude of the signal at the reference frequency, allowing you to measure very weak signals even in the presence of strong noise. The key aspect of the lock-in amplifier is that it filters out noise by using a reference signal to “lock in” on a specific frequency, while traditional amplifiers would amplify both the signal and the noise together.

A lock-in amplifier is a highly sensitive instrument used to detect and measure weak signals, even when they are buried in noise. It works by extracting a signal at a specific reference frequency and filtering out everything else. This allows it to measure signals with a known frequency and phase in environments with significant noise or interference. Key Features: • Signal Detection: It amplifies a signal that is synchronized to a reference signal (often a sinusoidal wave), making it ideal for measuring weak periodic signals. • Noise Rejection: By focusing on the reference frequency, it effectively ignores noise at other frequencies. • Phase Sensitivity: It can detect both the amplitude and phase of the signal relative to the reference signal. Uses: • Nuclear Test Equipment: In nuclear experiments or radiation detection, lock-in amplifiers are used to detect small signals that arise from nuclear reactions, often obscured by noise from background radiation or electronic interference. • Optical and Magnetic Experiments: Commonly used in sensitive laboratory setups involving lasers, magnetic fields, or other precise measurements where the signals of interest are very weak. • General Physics Research: Lock-in amplifiers are also used in low-temperature physics, electrical measurements, and even in some forms of medical imaging or diagnostics where signal extraction from noise is crucial. In nuclear testing, they help measure small responses, such as detecting radiation signals or monitoring sensor output during an experiment, ensuring high accuracy in noisy environments.

I have tts and I didn’t know that magnesium helped. I do take a supplement that is 10 active magnesium types every evening. My tts would usually trigger in the evening when I would yawn. I do listen to sleep stories and I think they help too.
@briesmodular
@briesmodular 18 күн бұрын
Does it help? I should take way more magnesium supplements (for muscle cramps) but I tend to use a 'sport spray' with magnesium every once in a while when I start to notice the cramps are increasing. Magnesium through the skin is an efficient way to get it into your system, surpassing the digestive trackt, but I've never really noticed an effect on the TTTS. I have additional stuff going on with my hearing lately (mysophonia) that sometimes the TTTS seems to move to the background... but it's still there.

Sorry this affecting you this way. I have fluctuating left ear tinnitus and sometimes sound distortion/ sensitivity after a wave slapping my ear. When it has been bad, on a few occasions the ringing stopped, however when it did the ear began to flutter aggresively. Cant you look into having a tenotomy of tensor tympani and stapedius? I understand this may create some anxiety for you bit you should discuss with ENT.
@briesmodular
@briesmodular Ай бұрын
Hey Steve. Thanks for your message. I did see an ENT, they sent me home with a anti-histaminic nose spray. I also don't know what they discussed with my GP but afterwards the GP blamed my issues on anxiety and stress without any follow-up investigation (no scans or anything). It had taken me a few years to build up the courage to talk about this weird issue with the doctor, because I thought they weren't going to take me seriously... well that's exactly what happened. I've read reports btw about cutting the muscles in the inner ear, for some reason it doesn't solve the issues in all cases. Very invasive as well, there's no going back from that.

Very much a Wurlitzer EP sound. If one understands synthesis programming and has a good ear-and maybe a Wurly laying around-not too hard to do. even harder to do-recreating the dynamics of a Wurly to bring out the tines distorting when you smack the keys. Many workstations and synths have done this, with layers. Definitely more challenging on this board, but this is a good example of how to do it with the Ion.

Isn't dis kind of Soma Ether gear? Altho i like this design more.
@briesmodular
@briesmodular Ай бұрын
I have both and they perform the same task. Soma has a headphone output though so there's built in amplification, whih makes it easier to work with on paper. As long as you want just mono sounds this is also in practice the case, but once you start trying to get stereo signals from two Ethers you run into a lot of hassle to get them to the same settings (the dials are really small). Therefore I prefer the easy workflow of just using SEE ALL and connecting them to a pair of mic inputs.
