It can sound like someone falling down the stairs, but with care it can be interesting. All of this is still using 2 NIBBLERS as an 8 stage shift register with some feedback for variation. Chaos doesn't have to be LOUD and disruptive.

What would you say the benefits/differences are between using Nibbler clocked vs. XOR shift register?

Hey! When you use the shift register with xor input you get more variation and the output very much depends on the initial state (which steps are active) of the module . When using Nibbler as a counter with a clock you get more repetitive patterns (it depends on the amount set with the switches how quick the pattern repeats but usually it's 8-16-24 clockpulses long). I like to use the shift register for more chaotic things while the counting mode is great for sequencing repeptitive stuff.
