Honestly? I think the gaps are terrible and so is the difference of the sizes. Looks completely amateurish. Why not invest the time to study the *absolute basics* of making mosaics before starting such a project?

For those that live in CA. South West Boulder & Stone sells decomposed granite in a variety of different colors. In my opinion the Palm Spring gold decomposed granite mimics the look of beach sand and is really pretty. Also I love designing with native plants.

thanks for sharing this great idea for front yard. one thing though, the red cordyline breaks the muted color palette and pattern. if continue with another fence cactus will make the whole yard looks more polished. also instead of using agave, i will use golden ball cactus, again, for more polished look. for DG, it looks a little bit too much like dirt. maybe pea gravel? overall, this is a great idea to make a minimalism desert look front yard. it's just seems not easy to make it look great.

We used tile thin set in white (vs standard grey) so if any peeked through the grout it would blend in.

This is so cool, but I am curious about how long it lasts? Did the paper went bad condition?

It actually held up well! Did a light vacuum from time to time to remove the dust. It even survived a few kid pillow fights somehow. 😝

It was really nice meeting you briefly at Fully Charged! Forgot to mention earlier that there's a product that may interest you if you do more of this. I've used Wagman Metal's Eco-Coat. You can wipe it on to your tile before applying grout and the concrete grout will release much easier often just washing off with a brush. They also have a product Eco-Crete which helps getting concrete off and is less destructive and toxic than acid. Note these products are intended for use in cleaning up tools and equipment, but I've had great luck using them as I described, especially the Eco-Coat.

Awesome! I’m planning my front yard landscaping in San Diego now, and have a lot of similar ideas to what you created. Please let me know if you have a recommended landscaper, plant nursery, and where did you get those beautiful boulders from!? Thanks for sharing!
@JennieJSullins2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you, sorry for the delay. Locally check out Southwest Boulder in PB. For plants I sourced most from Evergreen which is now Moonvalley Nursery. Also Native west plants but I think they are only wholesale. Good luck!

Personally, I would put in a much bigger rug. Having chairs partly on the rug and the tile doesn’t look the best in my opinion. I love the style of the chairs and bringing some colour into the room. The sofa is gorgeous. Maybe a large plant will add some more colour and help pop the room. 🤗. From Australia

If you like patching, you will love traditional finish plaster (not veneer plaster, but lime plaster used over wood lathe), no sanding. I use it with drywall, create a scratch coat of durabond, which simulates the Keyes of wood lathe. Has a very unique look, the feel of marble, beautiful actually. Granted, a tremendous amount of work, but well worth it, also can be tinted/dyed. I’ve taken vow never to paint again.

watched the whole thing, really well edited (props to the mystery person who edited this) and great talk. only thing i would suggest for future videos is to refrain from smacking lips on camera. your pacing is pretty good and you explain well your ideas and lay out the process in an understandable way
