does it normally always leaks down the inside side of tank right?? I think this is my issue but I have a feeling mine is going to be trickier yours isn’t as rusty as mine lol and mines a 2013. i’ll do some more investigating but it’s dripping down inside side of tank where the plastic plate connects to metal.

Hey there. When you remove both U bolts on a side, does the axle tend to move forward or backward, or does it pretty much stay in place while you swap the hardware? (Aside from potentially dropping if not supported) Thanks.

4 minutes of bather 2 minutes of overspeed jerky worthless video of the ACTUAL work. And it's only easy because someone before you did the hard work - removing the OEM riveted ball joints. P.S. Torque the BJ nut BEFORE you put in the cotter pin.

Fighting with my '03 Saturn front right wheel bearing now. 5 hours and nothing. I'll need a bigger hammer, a propane torch and chisels. Pain in the ass. I'll assemble with never-seize for next time.

In case anyone was wondering, the driver side is the easy side. Yes, you should go through the passenger side. I am curious if there is a way to separate the hose on that side to give some clearance.
@diycast69142 ай бұрын
Excellent tutorial! How much tilt do you need to fill the hub with gear oil and is there any for sure way of knowing that gear oil ended up getting in there?
@BlueBug-s9l2 ай бұрын
If your oil level is correct then just get the fill plug over the end of the hub and you should be good to go. You could pull the end that you want to check, but you would have to re seal it.
@diycast69142 ай бұрын
@@BlueBug-s9l i ended up filling one axle through the breather tube which was conveniently located in the axle tube. And the other side I tilted it slightly upwards and filled the tube before installing the axle. Then I took a half mile drive to the nearest steep hill and parked perpendicular in the middle of the street for each axle....I wonder what the neighbors were thinking haha

The right front hub bearing of my 2009 Saturn VUE Hybrid required lots and lots of hammering along with using the nut and bolt reverse press, some heat (which definitely helped when quickly followed by the chisel. The exposed surface had lots and lots of Al2O3 and/or AlCl3 (from the lack of dust odor, it was likely Al2O3), so that was a bit of an issue. What should have been considered was the damage the chisel had on the aluminum flange surface of the knuckle. It got beat up so some assembly adhesive is going to go on some of the small gaps to reduce infiltration. The steel flange surface of the bearing looked fine in comparison. However, that old hub might still be in that knuckle if a chisel had not been used.
