I have a few berry specialists with BFS. Walrein, lvl 52; Raichu, lvl 50; Typhlosion, lvl 50; Ninetales, lvl 40; Raticate, lvl 30; Houndoom, lvl 30; most recently acquired shiny Altaria, lvl 30; also a Pikachu with BFS & Helping Bonus that I forgot about. Just realized I can evolve that Pikachu & level her up some. I have others, but these are the ones I use the most. Depends on what island I am on. I tend to concentrate more on ingredients so I can cook strong dishes and level them up.

After watching yours and VelocityRaptor’s videos, my gameplay has changed within the game for sure (evidenced by the fact that I’m on Cyan hunting for a good Psyduck 😂). I don’t have as much time to do as much research myself into some of this since I have a 3 month old so it’s nice to have a concise video with the proof that I can watch when she’s napping haha. Haven’t reinvested a berry specialist and I probably won’t unless it’s got cracked stats like that Pichu you caught (and I check the production comparison on Raenon). Grats on that and the name is fitting 🦖

When the game was first released, I had no idea about sneaky snacking and invested a totally neutral totodile with BFS at level 100 (!) to level 30 because it had Inventory Up L. Almost transferred my other pre-existing totodile, which, when I finally learned sneaky snacking was a thing, realised was great (BFS, HSM, jolly) and fairly easily brought it up to level 60 (to date, my only level 60 Pokémon). Was so close to transferring it at the time 🫠

The only time I use sneaky snacking is overnight when I am sleeping and not checking the app anyways. This is why I usually always swap in my berry team overnight if I am good on ingredients needed for the next day
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep6 күн бұрын
Smart play. It one thing to intentionally sneaky snack all day and all night. When we’re not collecting because we’re sleeping, and every Pokemon is going to end up sneaky snacking anyway, we’re better off having Berry specialists in because their sneaky snacking will yield higher strength than the other specialists.
@doopness7856 күн бұрын
Not sure how if you considered this but you can click you Pokémon and trigger your skills but just choose not to collect the berries. This lets you sneaky snack and have your skills. I do this with my Raichu all the time.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep6 күн бұрын
This is valid up until the inventory is full, yes! But once sneaky snacking starts, no more skill triggers. So you’re saying, “don’t sneaky snack up until you are sneaky snacking?” 😅
@VelocityRaptor22PS7 күн бұрын
Something else not even considered here is skill level. If you are a premium player and have the skill seeds to afford it, you can pump that skill level higher, meaning deleting its existence through sneaky snacking is even more detrimental. That is only really a consideration for those who have seeds to spare, though.
@VelocityRaptor22PS7 күн бұрын
Just used the example meganium, and the threshold is level 85 if you were to max out its skill level.

Sorry to say your sims actually weren’t giving base ingredient values (unless you had an area bonus set or something that I missed) - you were averaging north of 200 for the ingredients shown. Ingredient recipe bonus strength at one point was a complete blind spot for RaenonX (as you discuss), but these days there’s a base recipe it gives you even if you don’t set something manually. It’s still a lot more complicated than RaenonX lets us believe, but with all that said my conclusion isn’t too different from yours - only sneaky snack good berry specialists when at a high level and you won’t be using the ingredients in a recipe, and even then the value of the skill often makes it more or less a wash.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep7 күн бұрын
You’re right, my early screenshots would have had a smallish area bonus applied, but i eventually determined that area bonus was still scaling things equally. I didn’t go back and regrab everything. Good call out, thanks!
@VelocityRaptor22PS7 күн бұрын
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep yea, for future reference, other than when it comes to minor rounding errors that may slightly benefit some mons ever so slightly more than others at very specific levels, island bonus will ALWAYS impact every form of productivity 100% equally. No need to even bother futzing with it when doing analysis like this. It's, for all intents and purposes, just a flat modifier after all other calculations are done and really only needs to be taken into account in raenon when doing a team analysis to figure where you will land after a week.
@VelocityRaptor22PS7 күн бұрын
Interesting thing: since helping speed skills improve berry finding, ingredients, and skills all equally, the only things that make an impact on how effective sneaky snacking would be are any skill trigger and ingredient modifiers. Since the ideal berry specialist would have no ingredient finding, and maybe even ingredient finding down, the impact felt by sneaky snacking would actually be felt LESS than on a non-ideal berry specialist, since the gains from all those "lost" berry procs to ingredient procs occur even less while they are not sneaky snacking. The ideal subskills for bringing that level as low as possible would be an ingredient finding up, main skill down nature with BFS, IFM, and IFS at level 50. This berry mon would be losing the most potential berries to ingredients, and not be losing as much in terms of skill since it has a very low skill trogger rate to begin with, and I bet most players would call that berry mon FAR from optimal.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep7 күн бұрын
So correct me if I’m wrong, but are you saying that a Berry Specialist with Ingredient Finder M would benefit from sneaking snacking earlier than an optimal one? It would just have lower strength than an optimal one as well right? I guess I need to do more tests! 😅
@RedeemedSteve7 күн бұрын
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep What he is saying is true. I was doing the calculation on my Alolan Ninetails I just caught because it has BFS and Helping Speed M, but it has an ingredient up nature. The calculation shows that sneaky snacking is more optimal starting at level 40. So sneaky snacking is more optimal for berry finding when ingredient or skill natures and subskills get in the way.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep7 күн бұрын
@@RedeemedSteve awesome, thanks for sharing! I would have thought lt the opposite is true! I guess the bottom line is that if we plan to sneaky snack that we should be aware of whether or not our pokemon is better off doing it or not. 😅
@RedeemedSteve7 күн бұрын
@@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep What is interesting as well is that the value of the ingredient affects it as well. So doing the calculation with the Ninetales at level 25, it is more optimal to sneaky snack because it only gets 1 soybean per ingredient find, but when mine unlocks double corn at level 30, it switches to sneaking snacking being worse because of the value of finding 2 corn as opposed to 1 soybean. It is also showing that it would only trigger it's skill on itself as well.
@filosuu7 күн бұрын
While I agree with your take, for me it will only make sense to sneaky snack with your berry specialists when the ingredients it brings are not used at all and just use space in your bag. Specially when you're overloading your bag with ingredients because of GCT or a bonus from an event. I remember that for the Christmas event, I had to let my Walrein sneaky snack 24/7 because it had a +1 ing bonus and none of them were useful for the meals I was preparing. It was a waste of strength and space in my inventory. It was for sure a niche situation for sneaky snacking.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep7 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing. There are certainly cases where sneaking snacking makes sense, but as a 24-hour and full team strategy I think people are generally misinformed.
@doopness7856 күн бұрын
Because of the ingredient limit I always collect from my ingredient specialists first then skill specialists and last berry specialists. If I’m close to capacity for ingredients I won’t collect anything from my berry specialists.

Stockpile has a niche use. You can put it on your team a few days BEFORE and event. If you get lucky, it may stockpile the week before and then spit up the next week. It is one of the ways to effectively transfer strength from one week to the next. Also, Extra Helpful S can be used for the same purpose. Apparently it overrides inventory limits. If it triggers on Suday, you can just...not click on the Pokemon that it triggers on and the berries and ingredients will be in limbo until you do click on them next week.

I wanted to establish what pokemon would be legal for Sleep Sleepers and that was really the only way I could think of to do it. Probably what I would suggest next is figuring out “what do I have (of any specialty) that’s worth taking to 50 & 60?” Then figuring out what gaps you’d like to fill from there. For the reasons laid out in the video, I like Charge Strength skill specialists and ingredient specialists for this consideration over berry specialists, but I might be biased because I only have have good but not great berry specialists.

Make sure you have ideal ingredients on Monday morning when starting the next week. If you can kinda make the top dish of each type 3x on Monday, you’ll have an insane start of the week.
@iBenBrownPlaysPokemonSleep20 күн бұрын
A little preparation and a little luck go a long way! Great tip!
@scvanderhorst20 күн бұрын
It can take a lot of preparation, depending on how much work you’re willing to put into it. You can simply do all dishes x3 and save these ingredients, but you can also check which Pokémon you’ll use next week and save less of these ingredients and more of the other ones. Another strategy is to figure out the number of ingredients you need the most, and save more of those (oil is in all salads, for example). You need far less corn in each meal compared to soybeans, so you can save less of these. On the contrary, you can focus on the rarer ones such as large leeks and eggs. And you can check which ingredients are easy to farm and just skip those if they are not in the top dishes (I have an absolute top golem with potatoes, so I don’t take any to next week). For each week I try to do something like this: 60 large leek 69 mushroom 25 eggs 0 potato 70 apples 27 herb 28 bean sausage 10 milk 17 honey 110 oil 20 ginger 70 tomato 25 cacao 0 slowpoke tail 98 soybeans 60 corn 56 coffee Bonus tip: make sure your bonus Pikachu only has ingredients in his inventory before the start of the week.
