Now MG5 is out of production nearly new ones are competitively priced. I was wondering how Cleevely's have found their facelifted MG5 since the original video in 2022?

The original 28kWh has some 2016 and early 2017 plates which will be the best cheap, still usable, EV to avoid the huge (relatively) cost of EV tax from 2025 onwards.

Here's my experience buying a high mileage used Model S. In April of 2020 I bought a 2013 Model S 85 from the original owner. The main drive unit and main display had already been replaced under warranty (@90K miles). That meant that the car I bought was on it's second drive unit and display when I bought it @96K miles. In the summer of 2023 I began experiencing episodes of the drive unit cutting out during normal driving. Within a year the issue became worse, and by the Fall of 2024 it was happening almost every time I drove the car. So, in mid-November 2024 I drove it to the local Austin, TX service center and on the drive there it cut out 3 times. When I got there they said I should leave it with them (without an appointment) because it was “a safety issue". The diagnosis (later that same day) was that the drive unit was failing and had to be replaced. My choice: do nothing and have eventual total drive unit failure somewhere out on the road requiring an expensive tow to a service center or make the replacement now. I authorized the replacement ~ $6700 (out of warranty). The car has 140,000 miles now and is on it's 3rd drive unit. If I had known that this was a possible issue, I never would have bought the car back in 2020. This may not be typical for all early Model S's, but I was unlucky enough for it to happen to mine. Three (3) drive units in 140,000 miles of normal driving is not my idea of a dependable car.

So you drove back slower with no heater and the amount of miles you got was nearly the same? I don't understand. We have just bought a 20 plate and love it but its really cold weather 0c and it's not giving great miles per kwh. I guess it gets better when things warm up?

Thanks for this encouraging video! As a result of your history with the MG5 we recently bought a used a 2023 MG5 Trophy and It's great. However, it came supplied with summer tyres. What would you recommend as an all-weather option, please? It doesn't need replacement tyres as yet as it is still below 10,000 miles but the summer tyres do feel a little inadequate at this time of year . . . Thanks

bought one after years of hybrid driving. How you drive it makes the consumption. It is quite powerful and it steers high end. If i like acceleration, i jump on my CBR. Get a 2k motorbike somewhere, open it up. After that you need nothing from your car anymore, except everything the Lexus offers.

So, I followed your instructions. I got the servos removed and the parking brakes released. So the car rolls feely. But when I put in Drive or Reverse, the car sense a problem and immediately shift back to Park. So, I still can't drive the car. The one thing I did that might be different from what you did is that I screwed the servos back in, but I disconnected the wires. Is there a way to override the car automatically shift to Park when I try to drive.

Not an MG5 but the last MOT on my 2016 Model S 85D was last October 267,004 miles and it would have gone straight through but I couldn't get the front tyres delivered in time. So just failed on the front tyres, which had the inside edge worn due to the geometry needing adjusting. November I fitted all season Hankooks and got all the geometry checked and adjusted before heading down to southern Italy. Happy New Year guys 🥳
