As with all cars, they all have their faults, this for me is the best looking and probably most practical of the Tesla range, I don't dislike other Tesla models, but this is the one I most prefer. Unfortunately I'm unable to own an electric vehicle due to initial cost of purchase, the lack of infrastructure in this area and the cost of public charging, so why am I subscribed to your channel? Because I love the reviews you do and the fact you point out the pitfalls and don't say that electric vehicles are 100% perfect

The point that it seems Europeans are not considering is this: while we prepare for a potential future threat from China, we’re allowing Chinese OEMs like BYD, NIO, GM, XPeng, Volvo, Polestar and others to map our cities and collect vast amounts of data from drivers. By welcoming foreign-controlled vehicle technology with open arms, we’re putting our long-term security at risk. European consumers need to wakeup!

As others have already stated, this is an amazing demo of this excellent answer to getting around, but unfortunately illegal to use on the UK's public paths and roads. Because the government hasn't yet realised that e scooters and e bikes are both "powered transporters" 😂 It just shows what kind of people are running this primitive country 😂 Such a shame

Thank you for your videos about MG5's. We wanted a roomy car with a decent range, but at a sane price point. Your excellent and honest information guided us to the MG5. We live in the Channel Islands and - finally - our government recently offered incentives to buy electric (had to be purchased through a local agent, so couldn't use Jonathan Porterfield this time). We got an ex-demo SE long range. Superb car for long trips in France, as well as being great for daily use on our tiny Island's narrow lanes. Best of all, our Golden Retriever has ample room to enjoy rides in the boot. Cheers!

Online reviewers seem to comment that it can have a traction issue with the front wheels spinning on acceleration. It’s the one thing concerning me slightly. What’s your take on this having lived the vehicle? Are there any other traction issues generally? Is the issue driven by weight distribution and is its exacerbated by fully loading up the rear? Have you tried it in adverse snowy or icy conditions and what was that like? Many thanks

If you are thinking, where is Cleevely Motors, the answer is kind of "everywhere" . They have a fleet of 8 cars and although their physical premises is a long way away in the South west. Their reputation is even further afield. Hope they don't mind this comment as even in MGs they probably don't want to travel too far. My car is only two months old so don't need them for this but my Zoe comes off PCP next year so I will buy either the Zoe or a second-hand EV.

Taking delivery of our 2nd VW id.3 in a couple of weeks. Our lease is up. We’ve settled right into the EV world. Very cheap EV tariff. Still enjoy every time I get behind the wheel. Do about 150 miles a week. Mostly around Bournemouth, Poole , Christchurch. There was 2 EV owners in our road,(3 years ago) and there’s still only 2 EV owners. Roll out isn’t happening in our road. Anyway we’re happy with EV ownership.

If I had access to home charging I would buy an electric vehicle, sadly, public charging points in the area where I live are scarce and the cost of public charging works out more expensive than running my diesel. MG have proven themselves to be a good competitor in the electric vehicle market, there's a few of them as taxis in the area where I live
@Jamesandkate

Sadly public charging is very expensive. Some legislation is required to bring it on to line for sure.

@Jamesandkate two of us did a trip to Portsmouth, me in my diesel, the other in an electric Kia or Hyundai, he had to recharge to get back, it cost him around £71.00, I filled up at my usual place for £21.00, I managed to get there and back starting off with over three quarters of a tank, he had 20 miles less than me to travel and had to recharge to get back, I don't know what charger he used but it wasn't on the motorway, but the cost was quite alarming, I think that if the government so desperately want us to go electric, like you said, they need to do something regarding public charging prices along with improving the infrastructure down south/south west

I like the MG range, I hear criticism, I guess because they're Chinese and people seem to think bad of Chinese products, there's a few of them as taxis in our area, I do think the chrome looks good on the MG, not really keen on your dechroming, each to their own, I'm glad it's going well for you. I wonder what the state of health of the battery will be when you get to 175,000 miles

I bought an infrared panel a couple of years ago. 600 watts, cost me £180-ish. Yeh, I fell for all the hype. It’s in our spare bedroom, approx 960 cubic feet acting to supplement our storage heating. It works, but it’s not miraculous. The radiated heat is, very directional. Yes, the core temperature of the room will eventually rise to desired level, but it takes a long time to get there. I was initially planning to heat the whole building with infrared. I’ve abandoned those plans. All electric heaters, regardless of type, are 100% efficient. They convert 100% of electrical energy into heat energy. Where they differ is in how they transfer/distribute that heat into your room. So, a £20 fan heater from Argos will be as effective as a £30 convector heater from Amazon or a £60 oil filled radiator from John Lewis. That £350 outlay on your 800 watt infrared panel is going to take you years to recoup in energy savings when a £30 2kw convector heater would have been equally as effective and far more versatile. I would seriously question the wisdom of connecting an 800 watt heater to your lighting circuit. It may cause your property to get a lot warmer than planned. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Thanks for a great video! Really impressed with that consumption. If I have calculated right, that comes out at 16.9 KwH per 100 km, which is a great value assuming you will have been on the motorway for most of that trip north. Sounds great to me...

You've convinced me to get an MG5 here in France. I haven't heard you say a bad word about them in any video, and you seem like the prefect reference .... an EV Engineer. The basic 51kw/hr model is available for €190 a month (£160) lease over 4 years. That has an LFP battery so although the battery isn't huge, you can leave it at 100% charge every night and have around 300km waiting every morning. So for €9,000 (£7,500) over 4 years it's cheaper than paying for the depreciation on buying a new car (or even a used car for that matter).

As an older driver I would take the MG5 over the MG4. For me its more about practacality and comfort than looks, speed or handling. And the lane keep assist is a simple push on the end of a stalk. I would even take the the pre facelift model MG5 over the new MG5. More physical buttons means less faffing with the screen. And price. Autotrader pre facelift MG5 2022 exclusive with less than 20,000 mile £15,995! Its a no brainer

Wow how dumb do you have to be, if you only want heat in specific rooms with central heating system then simple turn down the individual thermostats fitted to almost every water filled radiator, your central heating will then by pass from heating any radiator that is either turned off or set to a lower temperature reducing the cost of actually operating your central heating. As for fitting a 800watt heater into a lighting circuit, you can tell your not a great diy’er, you don’t even understand the basics of an electrical system, this is how house fires can start. Stick to getting the professionals in if you don’t know what you’re doing.
