Have you thought about using the SI daily planner? It’s basically just daily pages of the Hobonichi cousin :)
@loki666100Күн бұрын
I use to the bands around the spine but they use to break. Then I released it was the edge of the cover on cover. Where they were rubbing over time they would break. Then I put them under the cover on cover and they would last. Now for next year I’m not using any hobonichis at all. My first year in 7 year’s. Never heard of the second book you named, the green one. It looks interesting but not sure if I would use all of it.

I will never get over the collage on the HON. It's so pretty 😍 Your commonplace/scrapbook looks like it's going to be a really nice cosy space. The skull and moth fit in so well with that back deco. Glad you like it 😊

Ahhh thank you so much Alex!! And yayyy I love the sticker so much, I’m glad it has a lovely spot where I can see it all the time 🥰

For your cover, if you want the pocket, just tuck the wrap around paper into the pocket. Then add another paper to cover the pocket. Tape it to the top of the pocket the way you are sticking to the book. And wa-la…use of your back pocket should you want. :). That mushroom paper is stunning! I love love love it!! You can bind the edges with washi tape, and you can run it through your sewing machine and sew it to stay put. The washi or book binding tape will take being over the edge of the cover a bit better than the actual paper. The needle won’t be great for material after that, but a needle doesn’t cost much. Your creative mind will figure it out :) ❤

Thank you so much for these suggestions!! I did do a bit of fiddling about to work out how to make the pocket functional, but it required more measuring than I was will to do at the time 😂

I'm sure you've answered this question before somewhere but I gotta ask still: How do you deal with shipping costs from US stores? I believe some of your favorite are from the US? To ship to Germany it is usually around 20 bucks... is it cheaper for the UK or do you have a way to minimize costs? Any tips?
@bronteswannick4 күн бұрын
Hello! I actually haven’t answered this before I don’t think! Almost all the shops I like are actually Canadian rather than US-based, and I think Canada Post must just be cheaper than USPS, because I don’t find that cost is ever that expensive. I know my friend in America says USPS is very expensive! The only shop I’ve ordered regularly from in the US is The Giving Girl, and she sends things with stamps and as a ‘letter’ so that is affordable shipping, maybe $7USD? Hope this helps but do let me know if I haven’t answered very well haha! 😊
@TheTopazGrove3 күн бұрын
@bronteswannick Thank you so much for the reply! I'll have to check shipping for Canadian shops. That would already greatly expand my options I've seen so many pretty stuff from Canadian creators and always assumed it must cost an arm and a leg to ship from there too :') Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy getting inspired by your deco-ing style.

Tearing out the monthly and weekly pages is GENIUS! I tear out the monthly signature in my Moleskine dailies because they’re just too small to use.
@bronteswannick4 күн бұрын
That makes sense!! The Moleskine monthlies are kind useless 😅 I think there’s something to be said for making a book exactly what you want it to be 😊

I decided to downsize a bit this year. I have my everyday carry, which is my only planner. It's a SI Pocket. That will be where I keep my schedule, tasks, and day-to-day notes of things I need to write down. My other book is a standard TN size. I went with the Sterling Ink N1 horizontal compact, plus an additional monthly booklet. The monthly booklet will be for tracking reading/hobby progress. The monthly and weeklies in the main book will be for memory-keeping and the back pages will be a commonplace of sorts. I'm a little nervous about it, but the book I've loved working in the most is the N1, so I'm giving it a go!
@bronteswannick4 күн бұрын
That sounds so lovely!! There is something so so nice about those smaller sizes, and they will be so easy to archive too 😊 I hope you enjoy them!

It was honestly pretty scary but I’m sooo glad I did it! It’s silly but literally a weight lifted off me once I’d gotten rid of all the weeklies 😊 you can definitely pull them out!! If I do it next year I think I will do a video on it, I was too scared to film it in case it didn’t work out 😅

@bronteswannick4 күн бұрын
The publisher/PR company she is working with actually reached out to me! I think that’s because I know Kat slightly and that helped me out 😅 I believe it’s still available to request as an advance readers copy on NetGalley though! NetGalley is how I usually get my ARCs 😊

Great video! It seems like your planner set up is really dialed into your needs which feels like such an accomplishment. I'm still waffling back and forth on my 2025 line-up😅 I'm curious about how the Hemlock and Oak paper feels? I was literally just thinking "I need a Weeks in A5" and then you mentioned that H&O is quite similar.
@bronteswannick4 күн бұрын
Thank you so much 🥰 you still have time to choose though! The paper is very nice, super smooth but thick, it’s a little thicker than Midori MD paper if you are familiar with that? The H&O paper seems to take all my fountain pens and felt tip/ brush pens well!

So far my lineup is a cousin for journaling and daily logging, a weeks for planning, and a Sterling Ink N2 for my reading/media journal. I have the 2025 OURS Research journal which I’m looking forward to using for gratitude with a space to do a daily collage decoration. I also have a 5 year journal which I’m excited to use to log daily events, notable things, etc. Hopefully I’ll keep up with everything!

If you mean the clear cover on my A5 Hobonichi (I think you do?) it is a Midori one! 😊 I always get their regular A5 cover instead of the codex A5, they are a tight fit but if you blow hot air with a hairdryer on them when they are on your book, they mould nicely 😊

I enjoy the mix of pre planned deco mixed with things from the day. I always want to decorate in advance and have a theme but I also want to capture the vibe of the day so this feels like a nice way to achieve both. There is this paint, specifically for leather ( i know the hobo covers are pleather but i believe it should work just fine) and you could just pain the outside? some people have been suggesting dye but i don't think the cover would take to the dye at all.the name of the paint is angelus and a lot of people use it for leather. i would recommend watching some videos on it first though but i think it might help you get where you are going (which i think is a fantastic place, the mushrooms are fire, the black with just the postcard is totally my vibe and the collage is cool af)
