I feel like deathcore is much more digestible but I don’t care for it personally. I like older death metal bands

Deathcore reminds me of an edge lord teenager. I like thrash over death metal anyway but death metal sounds more refined.

I watched white chapel come out looking like hot shit and they proceeded to do breakdown after breakdown. It was annoying as fuck, i cringed so fucking hard watching them. Complete and utter shit. I hate everything about it. They looked like such douches acting like its so sophisticated, its fucking trash. Its akin to watching the beat drop at a edm festival knowing damn well they are about to do that 100 more times, doesnt it get old and stale 🤮

For me personally death metal just feels boring to listen to. I prefer deathcore, which is in fact my favorite genre. That isn’t to say death metal is bad, I don’t think that at all. I really do think it all depends on personal taste. I saw one of the comments saying how all deathcore bands sound the same, but personally I can tell the difference between the bands I like. There will always be bands that sound similar to others, but that doesn’t mean the genre as a whole is bad. I think people should respect both genres, since both are goated at the end of the day. At least we aren’t listening to country lmao

I personally prefer death metal. The main part of deatg metal are the riffs, not quite the vocals or the breakdowns. I think that there are some good deathcores, but the main problem of osdc is the fact that most of the bands are just chugging (i've been a deathcore fan for a wile so i know what i'm talking about) and the problem of new deathcore is the fact that everyting is overproduced. Death metal is pure, aggressive and raw. With raw i don't mean bad executed, but that there aren't many strange sounds of guitars or too triggered drums, but that what you hear in the record is what you listen live. Obviously death metal has bad bands too, but i think that's one of the main points. Another thing is the fact that in deathcore, because of that, there's no songwriting (most of the times). Another thing are the lyrics (how cringe). Last thing: the sound of deathcore is just really plastic and i don't like the too low tunings (i generally Don't enjoy tunings under C or B). However a point for deathcore are for sure the vocalists: if you're a deathcore vocalist you HAVE TO BE a beast and all over the top. In my deathcore era I learned how to do different stiles of vocals and that's helping me a lot when i have to replicate a specific style of growl/scream. So there are good things and bad things in each genres and you have to listen to what you enjoy. Peace✌🏻

I began with punk to Numetal to hardcore to metalcore to deathcore. Death Metal is fine but will never be my personal pick. Breakdowns bring anticipation beyond any progressive metal can do for me. It gets me amped

Deathcore is just so boring. But I agree old school DM sounds a bit monotonous. I'd say that other subgenres of DM are far more interesting than most Deathcore though.

"Death metal lacks of contrast" I think it making death metal more brutal and darker than deathcore with 20 types of vocals in one song, weird dissonances, pre breakdown speech, weird guitar patterns. So yeah in this case congrats to deathcore, it has more contrast. For me most of deathcore is boring (for me). But one (two) more thing, I like breakdowns very much and my favourite dm band is Mortician (which is very primitive and sometimes repetitive). I like this dark brutal dm sound with sick slams and breakdowns. Why I like dm more? Maybe just because I like dm more.

I enjoy Death Metal but not a lot of the older stuff. I think newer death metal is much better than old school (but depending on the band).

I honestly hate how Deathcore is infecting its way into Brutal Death Metal, trying to make it look like this new form of evolution! I mean, what's going to be next, DeathTrance or some shit like that? For Me, Brutal Death Metal alone just has so much more to offer and gets the point across without sounding lazy, as for Deathcore, however, most bands just looks like a bunch of teenagers confused with their sexuality! The only Deathcore bands I half like, are Whitechapel, SuicideSilence, and SlaughterToPrevail, and that's as far as it goes!

I Love death metal, love Black metal, love deathcore That's what makes lorna shore so good they are an equal mix of each subgenre maybe slightly more on the blackened deathmetal side with a deathcore break down here and there on each song, something that strictly deathcore fans hate to hear as they want to just own the band as pure deathcore but the music does the talking

Whitechapel, Thy Art is Murder, early Suicide Silence ect. I can't even tell these bands apart. Even Deaths albums sound more different to each other then the deathcore genre.

Some deathcore is gold like: Oceano Carnifex Whitechapel Make Them Suffer Rings Of Saturn Veil Of Maya (Old&New) Etc etc... I'm 28, I've been a Metalhead since I was 15. Weird you say deathcore has more contrasts - deathcore used to be hated back in the day precisely because how formulaic it was. Logical and dynamic songwriting often came secondary to the necessity of cramming in a breakdown etc. There are bands labeled deathcore that are free from these problems tho, such as The Red Chord, early The Contortionist, Glass Casket, Slice the Cake or Shadow of the Colossus. As for death metal bands having no variety, well, the better ones definitely do. If you want to find good music, no matter the genre, check out rateyourmusic or sputnikmusic and look up the lists of the best albums per genre, they've got good choices there and there are surprisingly few super popular bands there too

The deathcore fan base turned me off from the music more than the music itself.

Metalcore/deathcore/slam, are definitely my favorites. I especially love the newer underground bands that only about a thousand people listen to. Those just seem to be the best ones.

The only deathcore bands i really like are infant annihilator and job for a cowboy. Ive tried to get into other deathcore bands but they just sound too similar to each other imo. Not much standout stuff.
