Spencer utilizes the “dirk blast” to reach higher speeds. It was made famous by Dirk Verbeuren from Soilwork and Aborted. Chason westmoreland also played for The Faceless.

Dirk blast is different. Spencer hits the snare 4 times during his switch blast, dirk hits the snare 3 times during his blast.

I'll definitely go take a look at these, seems like Chason and Spencer in the same boat, great work but barely findable videos or other demos of their playing, and what is are rather old. I wonder if the Brain Drill reference had to do with Marco Pitruzzella? He is way more static then most drummers I listen to, but his speed is unmatched 😃

yeah these dudes are mostly from bands in the 2000s-2010s. not too much video content was put out back then I guess so it's harder to find. I've gotta make another video with more recent drummers, a ton of talent in the tech death realm in recent years. and yeah definitely thinking of Lord Marco haha. no disrespect, dude had chops to even be able to play that stuff haha

The drummer in Execute The Sinner's first EP is just crazy! Amazing composition and orchestration! Kind like Joey Jordinson if Slipknot was a technical deathcore band.
