Hey @DIY Racing, can you answer to this? I have the same engine and same code, except on bank 1 only. I noticed in the vacuum pump there´s a vacuum line plug without a cap leaking oil and sucking air like crazy. The car is newer model with electronic wastegate actuator, so that plug should be capped off. But that plug seem to have made a huge air leak. I put a cap into the vacuum pump plug. Could this have been the culprit for the lean code? 😀

This thing has quite a few square heads that can be removed. Any pictures of them or documentation on this QC if you can provide them. Thanks in advance.

If you need genuine used KZ parts, I know a person in Indiana who bought out the local KZ motorcycle shop about 2 years ago. This guy has multiples of everything, and he intends on selling most of it. He may have a set of Andrew's cams. Send me your email, and I'll forward his number. I've bought a lower end of a KZ900 engine, a set of carbs, and various small, hard to find parts. Cam bearing wouldn't be a problem.

I would have put my money into saving the head, and writing off that cam. Although it can also be saved, with a spray weld and grinding back to specs. Welding the aluminum that's been through decades of heat cycles and oil pressure, could be a more than "interesting" exercise...LOL. Line boring and honing the repaired bearing journal in the head, should be easy, if You can find needle bearings that match the inside diameter of the bore in the head/caps - and make a boring/honing bar that fits the inside diameter of those said needle bearings. I guess You would have to contact a bearing specialist - or look very closely at specs for that needle bearing, to find the correct tolerances for such a setup. The actual boring/honing operation, would be quite easy when You get a solid, rigid setup going. 100 rpm and just pushing/pulling the bar back and forth, If You ever get into trouble with that cam bearing again, I know what I would do. Fix it while there is plenty of life in the head, in stead of waiting too long. PS; I just saw the follow-up video on this one! Nice fix, but will it last? Enjoy that beautiful bike, and be safe out there! 😎🌞

If you have injector pulse and spark check compression on one of those cylinders next. My fear is it could be a timing chain issuse with that bank. But again check the basics first.

Stall convertor spec ?/ diff gear ?/ tire diameter ? / would u change any of these .??
@diyracing30495 ай бұрын
@paulthompson1654 So I've tried 3 converters. I had the cheap Summit 3000 stall from my old combo. It worked okay but was tight. Then i tried the Jegs 3800-4100 XHD stall and it was way loose would flash 4800rpm 3000rpm to go threw an intersection. Then I swapped to the 555-60430 Jegs XHD 3200-3500 it flashes 3600-3800. Drives around great! Flashes about perfect. The gear is 3.73 and 26 in tire. I think I'll end up putting a 3.42 gear in it at some point because I like cruise 65mph and it's annoying right now with a 3.73. The engine makes enough power I doubt it we loose much ET at the track. Hopefully sooner or later I'll get some track times.

@paulthompson1654 Vacumn I've never checked. I run power brakes and they work great. It's the modern dual diaphram brake booster. Idle is 800/850. With the AC on its 950rpm. I use a solenoid to bump up the idle. (still needs some adjustments)

All manual transmissions are weaker as the 1st gear ratio gets lower. The input gear is smaller. If you want a higher rear ratio dont want to go overdrive tranny then they are a good compromise. Not a off the line tranny but great street and freeway driver.

How does more fuel get administered to the engine? Does the pressure from the turbo naturally pull more fuel from the carburetor or is there tuning or something involved
@kennyp3247 ай бұрын
The nightwrencher has a video on this, from what I have learned a carburetor needs around 6 pounds of fuel pressure, for each psi of air from your turbo you need to have a fuel pump capable of reaching the total Psi, so if you wanted to run 10 psi of boost, you would need a fuel pump capable of at least 16 Psi (6+10) the regulator he used has a vaccum line that tells the regulator to ramp up the fuel pressure so that the air pressure inside the carburetor doesn’t push the fuel back into the line and have a lean condition. So under boost, the regulator will supply the correct amount of fuel into the engine. His video explains this better than me, but that’s a rough breakdown
