Very dramatic and instructive video. I must say, a balanced ecosystem, intact habitat, and events like sea star wasting disease and the poor recovery of sunstars is unfortunately not included. Naming sunstars and sea otters as critical predators, ignores the unbalanced distribution of these species after sea star waiting and historic sea otter annihilation. The trophic ballance of the Salish Seas is drastically interrupted and will remain so until it is able to rebalance.

Somewhere on this platform there`s a video showing a Steller sea lion biting in half a large Salmon shark (basically a smaller version of the Great white) after the latter had tried to attack it from behind.
@stefanhernold34523 күн бұрын
Truly *STELLAR* , these sea lions, aren`t they ? 🙂Btw, other pinnipeds are preyed upon by terrestrial predators, including lions (!), tigers (!) and, yes, bears. If polar bears have been known to kill walruses, large brown bears on either side of the North Pacific should be able to kill a stellar sea lion, or shouldn`t they ?

Very interesting to see the courting practices of the Harbor Seals. I have never see that before IRL. I only see this peaking their heads out of water

Yeah i enjoyed finding a p65 warning on my seaweed snacks... not on the bulk package of sale, but on the inner individual packages at the very bottom, deep in a crease of packaging. You had to pull it apart to read "Warning: Cancer and reproductive harm" Fun.

What a great video. Thank you first of all for not pushing the “only eat Chinook” agenda on the general public. And also thank you for all your hard work in determining the overall health and a way forward in protecting these majestic creatures. It is not often I find a video made by reputable sources that tells it like it is instead of pushing what the DFO wants us to hear. 👍

Very interesting. FYI, here's a link to my KZbin Playlist consisting of sixty video clips of my Gray Whale Encounters on the west side of Haro Strait in 2022 and 2023. They are mainly of CRC 2440 and CRC 766, which Cascadia Research Collective helped me to identify: kzbin.info/aero/PLJAAq8j4-vYQxK1OkOdyb8Hmv9p34_ZnX&si=vDX-YDF_uWb4Zuaw

I loved this so much! I feel so happy knowing about all the curiosity, research, support, and video crafting to share more broadly - as a Pacific Northwesterner living in the Bay Area, I resonate with these grays migrating back and forth, though my route is much easier (if slightly less tasty, airlines don't seem to serve shrimp so much. ;-) I've shared with other whale loving friends ~ thanks for bringing these majestic creature's lives and challenges to me this way! Hungry for more! :)
