I call BULLS##. You have 1hr plus to make a video but not 3 seconds to show us you have update 2.0? I've had full update 2.0 and all the problems you mentioned are not happening. I don't disagree with the delivery experience or the red herring warnings from 1.11, but insulting to put out such a blatant lie.

Toyota & lexus are most reliable hybrids. Korean hybrids are still a work in progress. I would stay away from US hybrids.

This is the first time I have seen a CR car review. Here are my impressions. CR as a buyer is admitting to their stupidity(the paint!). Re; the purchase..."someone else did it" named Andrew....What? You could and should have refused delivery given the obvious delivery issues. Full stop. You are supposed to be the smartest guys protecting other consumers, but you couldn't protect yourself? To start, it's obvious no one at CR read the extensive owners manual(hard copy) before test driving it. Many of the issues you complain about in the video(CA mode, noises, warnings, missing features, defrost, phone pairing etc. could have been avoided if you had read the manual first. Next, why didn't you send back the second sent of floor mats you hadn't paid for? Fisker has failed for the second time but all the legacy manufacturers are experiencing significant depreciation in the EV lineup. One year old Mercedes, BMW and Ford EV's are all selling for 50 cents on the MSRP. The EV market has dried up and hybrids appear to be the winners.

Click bate title. Hybrids aren't EVs. Unfortunately too many people live and breath by poorly done assessments like those from CR. It's a race to mediocrity.

Isn't a PHEV just a hybrid with correct wiring and sockets to be able to charge the drive battery from an external source? I don't get the assertion that you "are taking an ICE engine and transmission with you" regarding a PHEV, versus a regular hybrid, where you're taking two drive systems with you as well.

Unless you don’t have room to park a full size truck in your driveway, there is no upside to buying a midsize. They don’t get any better fuel mileage, aren’t much less expensive if at all, and are nowhere near as comfortable as a full size.
@jasonmoore6448
@jasonmoore6448 3 күн бұрын
They’re way more nimble than a full-size, have just as good a payload in many cases, easier to navigate and park in busy areas, and are better off-roading. They fit in your garage, are safer for others on the roads than their bigger albatross siblings, and can do about anything most normal people need. They’re cheaper and generally get better mpg, even if slightly. But yeah, other than that, there’s no upside to getting a midsize. 😏

I'm just curious as I'm planning on getting a PHEV, not a full-on EV. IF EV's wear out tires faster than non-EV's, then why aren't the EV OEM tires designed to withstand the extra weight and torque instead of having to be replaced so often? Torque amongst yourselves before you answer (pun intended).

6:00 "Most practical vehicle in the fleet sometimes". This is why minivans are pretty much dead. 5 years ago Jen commented that SUVs were more practical than minivans. Not knocking trucks but good luck putting in carseats without difficulty if you have a bad back. Very few people are willing to buy the practical vehicle because it makes them uncool at the expense of their wallet.

PHEVs are a stop gap solution between ICE and EV. It makes no sence IMHO to have both an ICE and an EV in one vehicle. Just the weight makes it inefficient.

The engine part is the same as insurance. Don't you have insurance? Insurance is also a burden until an illness or accident occurs. Imagine if you were stuck in a traffic jam due to heavy snow, your battery was dead, your car was full from the cold, and you had to be towed to a charging station by a tow truck. With a PHEV, you can heat the vehicle with the engine, and if you run out of gasoline, you can refill it with a can.

The “gap adjustment” on a lot of GM cars just changes the forward collision warning distance. It’s very misleading and it’s hard to look for used cars that have it because when you’re looking at photos of the steering wheel, all of the cars have that symbol

As long as gas is cheap and available there may not be much of an advantage to having a PHEV over an ICE car. When gas becomes expensive or unavailable then the advantage is obvious. Who knows what the world will do in the next 20 years?

Adapt, change or go bankrupt. Legacy auto dealers are a nightmare for legacy auto makers. They gouged customers trying to buy electric vehicles. Legacy auto dealers abused their customers by adding market price adjustments to gouge their customers for EVs They added pricey add ons and other costs to pump up the prices and their profits. Tesla has the right idea. Buy online. No hassle. No sitting in a show room for hours. No salesman BS. No crazy markups. No I have to see my manager BS. With Tesla you can buy a vehicle in 5 minutes or less online. The dealers have no one to blame but themselves. The dealers are dragging the legacy auto makers down with them. The problem with legacy auto makers having slow sales leads back to the legacy auto dealers. They try to talk people out of buying and EV and want to put them in a gasoline car.

Full size trucks have gotten too big. Unless you are a contractor or rancher that hauls regularly or tows a trailer they are way too big for daily driving. The mid size trucks are the size of full size trucks from the 1990's and 2000's

Hybrids are a wide range of applications. Some makers use electric as a "boost" to the ICE power. Others use electric as a VERY short range alternative. Still others use the ICE as a range extender for what is basically an EV. All are valid depending on the use case. However, none are a one size fits all. The Chrysler hybrid Pacifica minivan is a best of both worlds - in theory. It is also one of the worst implementations from an engineering perspective, BUT I still want one! The limited range of hybrids is their Achilles heel. Newer generations increased the range but not quite enough. A hybrid needs to go 50 miles @ 50 mph with the A/C running. This would prevent fossil fuel for daily use in most cases and only use ICE for road trips.
