Both Chopin and Mozkowski make use of melodic phrases, but not too lyrical, as they tried to lead their melody into the perfect harmony chords. I'm sure that they're occasionally concerned about whether melodies are going on with them, which plays a key role to make a case.

The second movement is Brahms at his best... so damn fine... stunning music, gorgeously moving, sometimes dark sometimes sunlit, exquisitely crafted... and it is a duet wrought by love, it's not really a cello Sonata accompanied by the piano, it's a duet for cello and piano, just look at the interplay of figures, the walking semiquavers, the double dotted rhythm, contours shared

Extremely appreciate the clarity of both the orchestra's and the pianist's playing: in other recordings although the pianist is simply phenomenal the orchestra feels off. This is a good recording for studying the composition. One thing though, i absolutely HATE how after choosing for a faster pace they kill the "moto" at that the soloist did build up moments ago (10:41): "espressivo" isn't an indication related to the tempo, they should've connected with the moto rather than playing as if they didn't care at all of what happened seconds before, it really makes no sense, they break the "flow": Medtner's forte. There's even a large corona to indicate the climax where the Oboe soloist takes the first voice, there are 2 thirds that stimulate movement: clearly the director of that orchestra didn't give it a second thought... if not, i don't know what the hell is happening there (also there is no staccato for the orchestra at Imagine it or play it with an instrument, the resonance from the cristalline piano passages gets picked up by the orchestra and elevated to the soloist. Why there can't be a recording of Medtner's concerto where both the orchestra and the pianist have a clear idea of what they're doing and play in complete symbiosis... why? (Probabilmente la risposta sono i soldi ed il voler sfornare la maggior quantità possibile di registrazioni...) EDIT: Wait, wtf, is this recording fake? 25:16 EDIT 2: No, nvm i've just looked into Gillham and might have just discovered about one of the most prominents and genuine pianists alive. He has a KZbin music where he explains what music is for him, feel a great simpathy for the man.
