My art teacher Ms.Wolf from Elementary taught how to make a stencil and them create a smear effect with oil pastels. If I was an art teacher I would teach how to paint a tree with Q-tips or common swabs like in Jay Lee Painting videos. I did it with my nephew. Creating a fictional map with symbols is on I did as a kid. For older students I like the idea of teaching composition within a comic panel.

Love your video, thank you for sharing. As a parent of a 5 year old, how can I learn more about which art elements to teach my son for the next phase? Any resources you could recommend?

This video is exactly what I needed! I am teaching jr high / hs art this year and I remember doing something similar to the drawing half of the face project when I was in school but I was hesitant on how to teach it! Thank you so much! Having them trace it first is a wonderful idea!

For your second project...shouldnt the structure of the face itaelf be taught first? Looks like just copying to me.

Are those oil pastels or chalk in the cubism piece?

My nephew is 8, and he likes to copy my drawing as you side in the video. So just let him to copy, and after that we can work harder, right?

Hi! Just wanted to say your videos are amazing! You're so good at breaking things down. Every video I've watched is really helpful. Thank you!! Please consider making more videos on teaching art to kids, specifically on how to work with them (encouraging creativity and overcoming difficulty etc). I would love it if you feel like making those! For now, back to watching more of your painting videos :)

Are you looking for activity books for your kids? Perhaps you'll be interested in visiting my account. I sell digital products that can be printed at the comfort of your homes🥰. I don't want to beg but it could really help my fees in college🥹 it only costs 2 USD in your country, I think.

What was the thing that used to be in art class when I was little, when you outline your face and you copy a picture but you only use black and grays and white and paint like the blocks of grays and blacks where the shadows would be? But it wasn't like shading or anything it was way more blocky?
@FragileGloryImpressions17 күн бұрын
Tonal grid painting, or black & white blocky grid painting? Not sure how you would search it, but I know what you mean. Good luck!

Stumble on this during my own.. adventures.. in drawing. Been drawing for years, but if anything I feel I've gotten worse. Anxieties. I also keep treating it like learning math; just figuring out a tool. I think my biggest hurdle is learning to enjoy it. Kinda curious about that book though; I've tried plenty, but you mentioned addressing a few more hurdles than Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain.. which I should probably start using again..

the grid is a bad idea, you are teaching them to create facsimile and not explore or understand form.

This is a very pleasant and enlightening video that I happened upon while looking for information on how to teach my own art class(es)! I found myself saying, "OOH! I know that!" or "OOH, I was gonna do that, too!" and "HEY, I didn't think of that one! That's a good idea!" Thank you for posting and sharing.

I want to start my own sticker collection, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to collect them in. Whatever that is, I want it to be small and compact and I want to stick the stickers on the paper pages, but also I kinda want to protect the stickers. I’ve got some stickers from video game special editions that started to pile up and I don’t really want to keep them in their game cases. Baldur’s Gate 3 alone came with like 3 or more sticker sheets. I even have the apple stickers from my iPhone. I got a sticker that a card seller included with one of the cards I bought. Yeah, you get the point, I want to stick them in a small notebook of some kind and admire them from time to time.
