Is there anyway we can chat via email? I have loads of questions about the car. We don't have any in America so I'm absolutely intrigued.

It needs more grip. On that surface, the grip comes from weight transfer, leaning onto the outer rear tire. As you initiate the lean, you need to commit to it way before the corner, to get the exit speed for the next corner. Some short tracks can be driven with one continuous lean, but most tracks require shifting weight around. Suspension geometry is the starting point to this journey. First step is to check the alignment and bump steer with binding removal. It seems like the car doesn't want to, or is too stiff to lean all the way, so the outer rear gives in, throwing the tail out. If the regulations allow, I would suggest longer crank throw, and maybe even a large twin/V4(V or boxer6) for more low end torque, wider "power band" and thus easier handling. I-4 power comes and goes so quick on that surface, that keeping up with the gears becomes a full time job. Adding more bottom end to the car with more grip would ease the driving experience giving more time to learn the lean and the line. On a slippery surface, brakes are part of the steering system. You steer by shifting the weight around to allow grip to transfer the spinning energy to move the vehicle. which ever spinning corner has the grip moves the car. On a soft surface, each tire is either giving more momentum, or taking it away. Now, to condense this, you can form the 4-wheeled car into a tricycle by lifting the inner front tire in the air. This eliminates drag and steering input outside the main mass area, so the vehicle steers more gently. Playing with the diff slip limit and rear (bump) steer straightens the triangle, making the car turn tighter when it's driven faster.

@@oikkuoek I’m guessing you don’t know autograss very well as the whole reason is to have the back end out in this type of racing( search British autograss series on KZbin will show you the top dogs doing the same thing by sliding around the corners in rear wheel) and no the regulation for my class don’t allow that type of engine has to be a 1.4 8 valve engine.

Hey Meg sorry to hear it's still happening , you need to make a list to cross of the possible causes , [1] did this happen before you installed the new diff [2] is there movement happening in the drive line that should not be [3] is the shaft slightly to short / becoming too short when suspension angle is added etc etc I would have the car on lift or axle stands and then visually view droop and compression angles to see any shaft side to side movement , you could place a gopro to focus on that area while you go for a spin up the road / yard , given engine and gearbox are solid mounted im wondering if the track width ie wishbone / rose joints are too over extended for the shaft length edit / trailing arms but same reason

I suspect you've got extra excessive movement happening to cause that drive shaft to keep being pulled out like that as it should not happen under normal compression and rebound loads even with that broken clip , keep the videos coming Meg
@MegsPitstop2 ай бұрын
We didn’t have high angle cv joint on the drive shaft so it didn’t have enough movement and that what caused the circlip to come off and then in turn damaged the drive shaft. But it’s all fixed now will be racing tomorrow to make sure :)

@@MegsPitstopWill that be at bearley raceway?
2 ай бұрын
@@MegsPitstop Ah yeah that can cause it as well i never thought to think about stock angle shafts but normally they tend to smash the cv's out when stressed with vertical movement and it's normally horizontal movement that causes shafts to be pulled out of gearbox's but pleased you've fixed it and can go racing 🏎🏁

No idea what those class 8's would have done if you had not let them past and raced them, off the line or when they lapped you. When you practice, stay wide, keep full throttle, slowely move in a little every lap to where the car is happy on full throttle and not on opposite lock, this will be the line that is fastest for you car and your skill.

You know it was fully pro stuff by the way the block was mounted to the engine stand. I might have noticed, but would never mention, the excessive amounts of rust in the water pump mounting cavity. Oh......wait..... The cylinder head looked nice for a lawn mower.....but not something you want to last more than 50 hours.
