So I'm at heart a ultralight angler and primarily stomp creeks. I'm fairly new to bait casters in general. However best ways to learn is jump in both feet. I also like how bait casters are less movement during cast arm/wrist, thumb bar, cast , retrieve. All can be done one handed. I only have 2 catches on my BFS setup just started on this journey this year 2024. My all time favorite baits are swim baits, micro cranks, micro jigs and I'll clean up on Smallies all day. I haven't thrown anything under 1/16 oz. Still stick to my spinning setup for those.

My dude, a good finesse jig will do you wonders. And jigs aren't as boring to throw as folks make them seem. I throw jigs places folks throw hard baits and get just as many bites, usually more. And since I still stink as an angler probably. Caught 3 citations smalljaws this past season. I tie a lot of my own jigs (95% are finesse jigs) . Hybrids ( hair ,synthetics & silicone/rubber skirting) , hair ,traditional ,spider/loose ball, and some hybrid fly style baits . Mostly fish rivers for bronzebacks , but Largies,pickerel,fall fish, big shad,panfish flathead &channel cats all have no problems with the good ole jig... even some of my more experimental mod jigs

Hey bro do u use steel leader for the pickerel?
@The_Multi-species_AnglerАй бұрын
@@XiaodongCao-x5o i dont ill explain. I dont lose pickerel often unless I over set the hook. It's the top of the mouth that cuts the line. With the right pressure and drag the line isn't ultra tight so the head shakes and rolls don't effect the line being cut plus I use a slow action rod that's very forgiving. Metal leaders usually kill the action of certain baits.
