I agree re. Monique. There wasn't enough there for me to like her or care about her divorce. I didn't even feel bad about the twist (maybe because you can see it a mile away so you have time to process it before it's confirmed.)

the moment you told your opinion on "Before Coffee Gets Cold", I hit subscribe button 😊 Love your description of it ( fully agree), the bad thing is that it makes people think that how the Japanese literature looks like. I had the opportunity to meet the author of this book ( I conducted the author meeting at my previous uni), and honsestly it haven't surprised me that book is like that. At that time I hoped that the meeting him in person and talk about it, would made the book looks at least little bit better, but no. It just got worse and worse. Greetings from fellow literature student based in Japan :) (tho I am Polish)

It's so funny cuz I'm reaching a year of being unemployed and when I was just a few months into it, I didn't understand and found the book weird and dropped it 1/3rd of the way in. I picked it up again and somehow it was comforting and I got it

Thank you for making this video and expressing your struggles with having dyslexia in general and learning a new language. I’ve dyslexia as well pretty badly and it’s nice hearing someone going for the same struggles that I deal with. I just wanna let you know you’re not alone and theI wish a lot more people who don’t have it understand what it’s like.

These are the books that people put on their shelves to show other people how smart they are. They never read them of course, as there is more reality tv to watch instead.

If American psycho was female it would manifest as this character I think. Its the same idea. Someone who exteriorly has it all and is so desirable but the reality is they are batshit insane. And they dont progress or get their karmic justice at the end of the novel.

i refresh this page every single day, anticipating your videos, i don't know what is keeping you from uploading, if it is your great movie then i am rooting for you. if it is low view, then i want you to know that your videos are of great value to all of your loyal subscribers. and if it is perfectionism then, i want you to know, that we do not need it there lost of video ideas that don't require u buying or researching and they will provide the utmost enjoyment to us, you can do a stream of consciousness of your head and it will be the best peace of media. i like to think in my silly mind, that you are on you own odyssey trying to find out what happened to your copy of the odyssey hahahha. anyway love your videos so much and i am thankful for all what u put out despite it not paying off on your side.

Eugenides... Ewe-gen-ah-deez? Love your videos, homegirl. And your style, your taste, your spicy, sort of adventuresome energy when you talk about reading. It's like you have little love affairs with your books and their authors. Kinda hot, shit! 🔥 I def sub for your awesome energy as much as your great book takes and recommends. Thanks for the mood again. Stay up, queen 👑 💜👏🏾

just finished this book- i started it in april of 2023 but dnf'ed it around page 130 because i couldn't stand the fact that all she did was sleep all day and treat her friend so shitty when she had so much privilege and potential and opportunities for happiness. i decided to pick it up a few days ago and read the rest of it and I have to say i enjoyed the second part of the book better and it gave me a better perspective of her mental illness and why she is the way she is. i appreciated this video and other ones i watched because it sincerely didn't dawn on me the reason why she was acting that way was because of how serious her mental illness is, (the first 130 pages i mean) combined with the fact how shitty she was raised and the fact that both of her parents are dead. i picked up on many of the notes you put in here and some were new perspectives i havent thought of. thank you for this video!

E.V. Rieu’s translation of the Odyssey is a significant literary landmark in itself (in addition to its own numerous qualities), being the first Penguin classic, and opening a door to classic literature that many people would otherwise have not had access to.
