What countries have you lived and been stationed in? How is the salary? I assume if they ask you to pick up more shifts, you get OT/compensated for that? Sorry if you already answered these!

Currently a civilian nurse and very intrigued and interested in this type of nursing, also currently an active duty spouse. How does that factor in? We have three kiddos also.

Ok sweet! I just got to the part where you explain the living quarters as I plan on doing this solo as well. Looks like a challenge. But since I can appreciate journeys being as important if not more than the actual destination , it’s a challenge in up for! I see some older folks there. What was the youngest and oldest aged person in your group?

Do flight nurses and orderlies have to go to the battlefield to help in the middle of fire? I want to enter AF, and being a nurse catches my attention, but I'm not very interested in being in the line of fire.

Hi Angel! Thank you for the video! are there physical requirements to being a Air Force nurse, such as the Air Force physical test with push ups, etc?
@AirForceNurseAngel
@AirForceNurseAngel Жыл бұрын
Hey! Of course! I hope you learned something. Yes you have to do a PT test every 6-12 months depending on your score. It consist of a 1.5 mile run, push ups and sit ups/waist measurement. There are also other options like the “Hammer” run, hand release push ups, planks. As a new grad nurse, would you suggest working civilian first in your preferred specialty to avoid doing 3-4 years in med-surg or every nurse coming in is required to work either OB or Med Surg? Because I want to work in the ER then apply for flight nursing as well
@AirForceNurseAngel
@AirForceNurseAngel Жыл бұрын
Hmm the issue is critical care in the Air Force is severely undermanned. If you come in as an ER or ICU nurse the likelihood of them releasing you to flight nursing is in my opinion low (just my 2cents, can’t say for sure). If you want to do ER, my suggestion is to do this on the civilian side for however long (1-3 years) then ask your recruiter to commission into flight nursing. Flight nurses are now undermanned so I think you are more likely to direct commission as a flight nurse now than before when it was extremely rare. Hope this helps. Angel
